Hoped for some trotting but the river came up over half a metre overnight so spent the day roving the section with the feeder rod. Caught chub from most swims and found barbel in just one - close in the slacker water in the morning and then further out in the flow in the evening once the water had dropped about 20cms.

It's been a couple of years since i was last on this beat, and boy it didn't disappoint !! Arrived early and walked down the path to the river, as expected it was very low and clear, although it was cloudy and over cast but warm, i had great expectations of catching.

Walked to the very top of the beat and caught from the off, started on the float with meat and feeding halibut pellets, alternating to groundbait feeder and meat, worked my way back slowly stopping off at every fishable swim (only 4 or 5 due the the high banks as i could not get my 3m landing net near the water), however for those where i could thankfully all caught me fish, the best being a 10lb 6oz Barbel a new PB for me and first over the magical 10lb mark along with 6 Chub over the 4lb mark all the rest were 2-3lb mark, approximately 20+ chub lost count after awhile, all gave a great account of themselves and were all rested and returned.

Sun broke through nearer lunch time and with the armada of canoes increasing and bites dying i decided to call it a day early afternoon. In the heat of the afternoon, i was not looking forward to the trek back up "heart attack" hill , teach me not to travel light !! everything bar the kitchen sink !!

Great days fishing, thanks as always to WUF and land owner for giving us great access to a great river along with all the nature and wildlife it includes.

Fished dawn till dusk.

Boilie and feeder seemed to work better than lead and barrel shaped hook baits. Pellets also worked.

Float fished meat during the day produced good sport wading.

Lovely bucolic beat. Will return.
"Cardiac Hill" is rather trivial and bank access is good ( just the normal Wye steepness). I'd pack a rope/dog-lead peg after rain, or later in the year.
A long hot day in low level conditions, mostly (at times very) chubby until a few barbel from one localised area near dusk

Only one rod fished. All chub between 1lb and 5lb. Trotted meat from the croy. A good half hour walk from car park. Beat is well kept. Good access to pegs although some steep.
