Did not fish. The only accessible spots were either choked with weed or not flowing, due to the prolonged low water. Walked the whole beat, twice, but having neither a machete nor climbing equipment, and it being the hottest day of the year, I didn't even put a rod up.

Won't be rushing back to this one.

Having fished the day before was a bit more prepared for what lay ahead. Parked up around 4:30am with and reduced my gear to the minimum (although still seemed to way a ton) and took waders. Went up to the swims opposite the Islands again and decided to rotate between 3 swims, fishing one swim having fed the next. No more than an hour (or two fish )in each before moving to the next.
Worked well with fish being caught regularly during the day 12 Barbel (4lb 1oz - 7lb 10oz) and 12 Chub (incuding a Wye Personal Best of 5lb 2oz).
Had to pack up at 8pm which was a shame as I'd just lost two in two cast (both shedding the hook into weed) but was faced with the walk back to the car and a 4 hour drive . The 47 step climb at the end once again got the heart racing.
All in all over the 2 days I fished the beat I would say that this is in my Top 5 of Wye and Usk Foundation beats, however I've got a feeling that at the height of the summer, the swims at the top end may be a bit busy. There's caravan hook up points in the field and I guess the owner has a camp site there. And it's a perfect spot for the Canoes to stop, but early/late season. And those in the bottom/middle sections are likely to be restricted by anglers on the extremely popular far bank.

Although no one said it was going to be easy, this really was a tough day and not for the faint hearted. Arrived at around 2pm and walked the whole of the beat from the bottom car park. Early in the season the banks are overgrown and accessible swims hard to find (steep banks and wildly overgrown). Went back to the car and drove to the car parking at the top end. Track down to the car park not too bad but could get tricky if wet. Decided to fish the very top of the beat by the Islands. Started fishing about 4pm and fished till about 9:30pm 4 barbel (5lb 2oz to 8lb) and 2 chub. "Staggering" walk back to the car topped of nicely by the 47 step climb back up to the car park!!
Still great to be back on The Wye again.

Fished by the old bridge, very difficult because of the weed coming down, courtesy of approximately 30 swans above the bridge. Still managed one barbel and one chub.
