A great stretch but not that many places where an old guy with bad knees can access the river. River was fairly low but I did well with freelined meat close in to my bank.

My friend and i fished at Wyastone Leys on the 20 th of Oct, despite being an attractive venue we didn't have a bite between us.
There was a lack of water in the river so it needs a good wash through , there were two other anglers who had arrived just before us but they were gone when we left ( 14.45) so presumably they didn't have any luck either.

Fished opposite the lay-by in the middle of the beat. Two eels and a surprise pike of about 6 lbs on luncheon meat.

Interesting beat, the only one I know where you can fish 2 countries on the same day. Parked up in the first spot next to the abandoned caravan and as I suffer from cowaphobia decided to fish in the woods.

Glad I did! A decent morning at the top end resulted in 2 barbel (one at 10.4) before having a Pot Noodle and moving down a peg. A mad afternoon session resulted in 9 more barbel and pike who snatched my bunch of maggots as I wound in. Most barbel fell to Robin Red pellets, a few to maggots.

That caravan is spooky in the dark...

Good directions and access. Managed to land four fish, another couple eluded the net. Moved 5 times till I found a swim I could cast ,fish, land and return safely. My best day of the season, this place is marmite. I thought I was in for another blank but perseverance paid off and I will definitely be back.

River low and clear. Fished 10mm boilies over krill groundbait / feed pellets in the deeper wooded section. Picked up a beautifully conditioned 8.4 barbel. Lost a nice chub in the near side weed

A short notice trip meant a visit to a new stretch and this looked the best option looking at recent results. Weather was perfect to start with but cleared up after mid day.

I started in the meadow but one hook pull on a small chub was the extent of 2 1/2 hours between float and lead. Moved up into the wood and had a good go on the float in 5 foot of water (one chub) before swapping to bomb and bags and then feeder for the last 2 hours. One more chub but no barbel despite trying various hook baits. Having read odd reports that there were no swims was pleased to find 7 and I didn't reach the bottom end of the beat. Good parking at the top end, decent access and the road noise not as noticeable as expected so a good day despite no barbel and a stretch to return to.
