Although the river was running through very fast, it was a glorious day. We tried the swims (about 4 fishable) in the woods in the morning without any joy. Moving into the fields we worked our way down exploring any slack areas and around 3.45 had our first catch (an eel) then 15 minutes later my friends rod hooped round and he was rewarded with a barbel of 9lb 10oz, in superb condition. One friend had to leave so we carried on until 6pm without any further bites. Not a day for numbers but that one barbel was the topping on a great day.

Visited the fishery and walked the upstream section, but decided the river was too high to fish.

A lovely damp day with rain of biblical proportions at times. The river was rising but not too much in the way of debris coming down and a nice chocolate colour. Normal feeder methods were used with halibut pellet being the preferred bait. The barbel varied from 9 1/2 pounds down to 5 pounds

Just as others have said, not much swim choice with four people and high-ish water, but the fish weren't having anything. Big pellet/small pellet, halibut/robin red, spicy meat, smelly paste, garlic boilie, sweet boilie, chopped, whole or barrel. Not a touch. Maybe should have taken maggots.
