river was running a bit and coloured.
First ever Barbel for Alan around 8.30 and a second within an hour to just short of 9 Lbs so he was very pleased with that as was I for him. Missed bites and lost fish followed. iddle part of day was quiet. oth had more bites and lost fish before a late fish each to my relief to round off another good day on the Wye. All fish to pellet and feeders in the slacks, a misplaced cast helped us on our way. Faster water was unproductive.

Nice to be back on the river again and to find it in perfect condition. We both caught barbel on a range of baits. Nothing massive but enough to keep you interested and enough swims to allow a bit of moving around to keep in touch with the fish. Plenty of eels about as well!

Sport was slower than expected with most of the action towards the end of the day.
We have fished here on opening day for the last 3 years. The first year we came, swims had been well cleared already. Last year and this year, no clearance had taken place so it was difficult to actually get to the river. I don't expect (or desire) manicured pegs but I make the point because the banks were overgrown to the point of being dangerous. I almost fell in the river clearing a well known swim. If we didn't know exactly where the swims were already it would have been a nightmare. The loss of Boys Rocks and Wires swims is a real blow to the fishability of the beat.
Honest feedback would be that we feel the beat now represents poor value for money. A new visitor unfamiliar with the beat would likely have a very hard time if they were first to fish it, and not have the pleasure we had 3 years ago now.
We do enjoy being able to have a beat to ourselves - and have been prepared to pay for it - but we will likely look to a different beat next season.

A cool day. The river looked in good condition and it certainly looks different in the Winter. Two nice barbel caught mid day in the swim below the power lines.

River very high and pushing through. Banks very slippery so not many swims available. Good day.

Under the very low water conditions we were very happy to catch 3 barbel each on a stretch that fishes better in higher water. Last day of a 6 day trip to the Wye which we have thoroughly enjoyed.
Many thanks WUF.

Really difficult day on this beat, one beat to avoid when no water in the river but fishes well when river up.
I fished in Boys rock all day and didn't have a touch, my mate fished 3 swims and eventually had a 7lb barbel.
As said in previous posts would benefit from some work being carried out to open up a few swims as it has become more overgrown each year.
