Had a great day with six Barbel between us to 8.12 and a few Chub all taken from the swims at the top of the fishery. The river is stunning with plenty to go at and lots of varied water. Thanks W&UF.

Five Barbel to 8lb and four chub to 5lb 4oz, good days fishing and very enjoyable. Fished the first swim near the power lines, lost lots of end tackle due to rocks, my advice would be to use strong main line and end gear at least 8lb and fish well out as large rocks are in near third. Also when playing fish keep rod high to get them back over rocks otherwise they dive straight into them.
tight lines!!

Following yesterdays hectic sport at Backney we arrived at Wyastone Leys hoping to find a better stamp of fish. This was our first visit to Wyastone and as it was my turn for first choice of swim I chose the obvious one nearest to boys rocks with FG settling in the next available swim some way downstream. The river was still slightly up with some colour and a nice flow to it. Once I'd found where the worst of the snags were I managed to largely avoid getting snagged and had 10 barbel best 8lb 10oz including another 4 between 7 and 8 lbs and 5 between 7 and 4 1/2 lbs . FG had 3 barbel up to 7lbs and some chub. After fishing a day ticket length on Thursday we returned to fishing the WUF length at Courtfield on Friday with another friend AP who has submitted the report for that session but which included my best 2 barbel of the trip 9lb 7oz and 8lb 13oz and best chub 5lb 1oz. Many thanks to the the WUF staff who were helpful as ever particularly on Friday when we rang them at 9am and they found us somewhere to fish for the same day.

I was slightly concerned that the boys rock swim is no longer available as part of this beat but I was relieved when I arrived to find that numerous new swims had been cut out in the wooded section giving access to what looks like a very promising stretch of water. My first cast in one of these new swims resulted in a bite after only a few seconds and the next few hours resulted in 7 hard fighting barbel to 8lb 12ozs. At about 11.30 bites stopped completely. If you plan to visit, strong tackle is needed as the bottom appears to carpeted with some coarse mossy type weed which every fish had to be hauled out of. Thank you W&U for opening up this quality fishing opportunity.

7 barbel plus 2 good chub between 4 anglers. Hard going to be honest, highlight seeing so many salmon jumping - great sight.

First cast 7.15am a barbel of 11lbs 8oz. First fish of the day ..........and the last! At least it was a personal best. There was evidence that the barbel were still spawning. So this result may not be indicative of the quality of this beat. We tried various swims along the beat with no response. I look forward to reading the catch results over the next few weeks. The swims that have been created in the upper part of the fishery are very comfortable with good access but the rest of the fishery is still largely inaccessible. I hope the good work of clearance will continue.

Great to see a lot of clearance work has been carried out on the beat since I last came in October. Loads of swims to choose from now. Tried piking in morning but no luck. Then had a go for chub and roach but again drew a blank. Finally got the luncheon meat out and caught 3 hard fighting barbel, the best of which weighed 9 pounds.

Great stretch of water, improved by what looks like recent chopping and clearing. Still some good spots close in and we had 2 low double figure pike on lures. We switched to maggot feeders for the afternoon and had several chub up to 4lbs, along with a surprise roach of approaching 2lbs at last knockings. Cracking beat, we'll be back!
