This was a new stretch for us so upon arrival we parked up and walked the beat. The section looked good and for the Wye we felt the access was no worse than we had found anywhere else. Having struggled slightly the day before on a section a few miles up stream we felt that the fishing could be difficult. Thankfully we both managed to land a barbel each within the first hour but as the weather deteriorated the bites slowed. At times it was hard to believe it was August as I sat under my umbrella watching waves with white tops break as a strong up stream wind blow and the rain lashed down. K B's chosen swim of the telegraphs proved to be very snaggy and a lot of feeders were lost although the rewards were a nice catch of several lovely barbel on a miserable day. Would love to see this stretch in Summer trim but not sure when that maybe !!

It was tougher going this visit. I seemed to find every snag in the river plus the rain thunder & lightning combined to make it more uncomfortable. Despite this I managed to land 6 Barbel between 5lb and 7lb 3ozs using pellets.

Fished the obvious powerline peg. Managed to land 4 barbel around 5lbs but several others lost due to snags, rocks etc. I finished early as I ran out of feeders !! Be careful seems to be very snaggy.

Fished about two thirds of the way down the beat and found access to the waters edge quite difficult except from a couple of places due to the high banks. River fairly low and we didn't have a single bite until the evening when we caught one 5lb 2oz barbel on luncheon meat.

This was our second visit to the Wye and again the fishing and surroundings did not disappoint. We found our way to our first swim quite easily (no problem with access as previously stated) and after a quiet start we landed a chubb of 4lbs 7oz and an eel of 4lbs, both caught on boillies. We moved to another swim where we only caught 1 chubb but lost several fish and feeders. We decided to move once more and changed bait to meat. This was our best decision as we landed 4 barbel to 7lbs 7oz and 2 chubb. Looking forward to our next visit next month. Thanks once again WUF.

Never having fished this beat before and with some spare time we took a look the day before to get some idea of where we were going and what to expect. Directions were a little confusing but eventually we found the beat after a fair walk. The majority of the swims we could find were either overgrown or too high from the water to be able to net the fish properly and neither of us felt comfortable enough with what we found so we decided not to fish.

The river is now down to a perfect level and the Power Line swim was looking promising. First cast produced a tentative bite that turned out to be an Eel of about 2lbs which fortunately dropped off as I was lifting it out, but the next bite some 20 mins later was something much better, a Barbel of 9lb 8ozs. Bites continued regularly through the morning and just after the deluge of rain at 11:30am I had another large Barbel of 8lb 14ozs. In total I had 9 Barbel and 1 Chub all on Elips Pellets fished with a feeder.
This was a great mornings fishing and underlines the fact that there is a good head of heavyweight Barbel resident in those first couple of swims.

Barbel - 9lb 2oz, 7lb 15oz, 7lb 8oz, 6lb 9oz, 5lb 2oz. Chub 3lb 12oz, Eel 2lb 2oz.
All on Sonubaits elliptical pellet with soaked pellets in a feeder. The river was still fairly heavily in flow and travelling debris a problem but a good short session and the first time I've caught barbel, so there's a result!

Had a great day, river was up a bit but thinning down. Ended up with 9 Barbel, biggest 8lbs 9oz and 2 chub with a suprise 12lbs 4oz Bream that fought like a Barbel. All caught on pellet and paste.
Access to this fishery is good in my view despite what others say and Road noise is really not a problem, more of a distant hum. Can't understand how people mention the public walkers either, had no more than 6 peple pass me all day and the weather was hot and sunny (Saturday). Steps are steep but easy managable. Its 300 foot steps (yes I counted) from the car to my chosed swim which was about 4 down from the rock so again can't understand the complaints there either. There is over a mile of water to the bottom of the beat but with so many fishy places before then, I had no need to walk that far. River was up a bit but swims have great access with wooden steps. Really cant fault it.
