1 Barbel - +/- 8lbs on Luncheon Meat. 1 Pike +/- 8lbs on Luncheon Meat! After fishing 'Sugwas' was a clear second best.

5 barbel all between 5 & 7lbs caught on feeder fished pellet from the next swim down from the power cabels. Lots of snags in this swim, did explore down stream in the meadow, found it to be faster & shallower and could not locate any fish here.

1 chub landed no other bites all day. Unusually slow for some reason.

First time on this beat. Was using caster and hemp close in as there was a fair bit of weed coming through. One bite all day but it ended in a hook pull. Will be back.

This pretty much appeared the only beat available on Saturday so I took a chance. The river was in good condition - up a foot with a nice colour. Fished the only real swim on the beat - below the rock. Unfortunately there was masses of weed coming through at all levels of the water. Fishing was impossible in the main channel. You could fish the near side where there was little flow - but also little fish action. I managed one small chub in 4 hours. An opportunity missed as I am sure they were feeding - just not good enough to get them !!

Another tough day on the Wye due to the hot and bright weather. Managed to catch a Barbel approx: 7lbs from the middle of the strech. Rest of the day nothing until the shade came over the water and bites were coming in thick and fast however after loosing a couple it was time for us to go as other things had to be done that day, which was a pitty as I'm sure we could of landed a few more by Boy's Rocks. The Barbel and all missed fish were on halibut pellets. Another smashing day even with hardly any caught. Thanks WUF!

After enquiring with the WUF for a 5 rod beat, Wyastone was booked after negotiation with the owner to accommodate us, this turned out to be one of our poorest days ever on the Wye and in effect a £100.00 day ticket for only one productive swim.
Again directions and instructions from the WUF spot on, but despite searching many of the swims downstream of the overhead wires, as far as the shallows at the bottom of the wood, only the pylon swim produced and fish, not a single bite was had anywhere else along the beat. Again it was possibly down to the bright sunny conditions, however apart for the water between the rock and wires, where several large fish crashed out, not another rise was spotted anywhere with the river looking devoid of fish.
The wire swim did produce a total 22 Barbel with fish averaging from 6lb up to 9lb, an awesome return with a couple of the guys sharing the bulk of the fish, but most disappointing for the others, on a plus note there were far more accessible swims available than first thought, just a pity about the returns.

Another enjoyable day on the Wye, 4 barbel and 4 chub landed and a few lost. Also, I would like to thank Adam the baliff(?) for recovering my landing net which I left behind in the car park. Will be back to the river soon!

Found fishing difficult due to very strong wind and lots of weed and branches coming down the river. However after braving the elements, I landed 5 barbel and a bonus eel!? All caught on pellets over groundbait. All in all not a bad day considering the conditions.

Took my 13 Year old son with me and because of that couldn't fish the very top of the beat near the power line!
Settled in the next beat down stream, plenty of room for the two of us. Started about 0900 and fished sliding ledger with pellet on a hair rig. The River was slightly colured and slightly up due to recent rain.

After a quiet start I lost one barbel but caught another after a couple of hours, a beautiful 6 pound fish. Then my son caught his first ever barbel. He refused an eager father's help and landed the fish himself, very proud and very tired after! another 5-6 pound fish that fought like a demon.
Nothing then all day as the wind really picked up and waves appeared.
Lost a fair amount of tackle in the river, lots of snags.
Overall an enjoyable day and made up that my son caught his first ever barbel.
