Another lovely day for fishing the Wye although this time with a chilly wind blowing up the river. All fish came to feeder tactics for both of us anglers and one of us had a tremendous day with 7 barbel, all between 6 and 8lbs. The beat was busy though with 4 other anglers which made finding a swim a challenge.

Fishing Passport Note : Wyastone Leys is a 4 rod beat as advertised. 2 other anglers were booked in. 2 more would presumably be poachers. If you suspect anyone is fishing witthout permission, please contact the Fishing Passport booking office.

Really hard going compared with the previous day with just one chub approx 4lb, tried all the flavours and colours of baits I had with me but couldn’t tempt anything

Nice chub with the biggest nearing 5lb, all on cheese and garlic busters. Lost a big fish in the early evening which I suspect was a barbel by the bite, constant rain made the bank pretty hostile but thems the breaks. Will return for sure

Annual family Wye trip. Barbel 5 - 8lbs, two came at 8.00 am, two more around 5pm. One chub, surprised not to see more.
Eels. A lengthy period in between when there were taps on the rod tips but few if any serious bites.

Fished a few hours in the afternoon to avoid the rain, hard going used meat and pellets lost what felt like a decent Chub early into the session. Ended up with a Chub of about 2lb and one eel the owner of the house in the wooded area made myself and my mate a cracking cup of tea which was very much appreciated.

Nothing caught. Fished upstream of the car park. Lots of bites from eels ( going on previous experience) . Came away thinking that the barbel are not there in numbers yet. Perhaps more upstream? Still spawning?
