River in great condition, fished with a friend who had never fished before. He managed a superb 11lb 2oz barbel and two 4-5 chub. I managed to blank, that's the way it goes sometimes!! Great day and many thanks to WUF, will definatley be going again.

A beautiful day dawned, blue cloudless sky, light breeze, cold with ground frost. Arrived at 7.45, parked up at upper section of beat - only one peg adjacent to parking area. Walked to upper limit of beat but no further access to the river available. River was lower than expected with clear water. With three of us making up the group, decided to try the lower section which had more pegs available. Set up on adjacent pegs.
With no fish caught apart from B P’S (8oz) Trout, C H decided to venture downstream and with a little luck and a ''Don’t stop believing'' enthusiastic attitude, shortly netted the catch of the day, a 4lb 9oz Chubb using a rolling ledger, luncheon meat and a good portion of fishing know -‘HOW’– Jack Hargreaves would have been proud !
R E drew a blank. He is a draughtsman after all!!
Disappointingly no further catches to report but we couldn’t complain, just felt privileged again to be on the banks of this beautiful stretch of river in this wonderful part of the country enjoying the sunshine and spectacular scenery and not forgetting the company of the ever present magical wildlife.

Arrived at venue to find water level reasonably low and very clear. We settled into swims in the meadow at the lower end and tried a variety of methods and baits catching 2 trout and 2 grayling. MC moved peg in afternoon a little upstream in meadow which resulted in 2 barbel mid and late afternoon both to pellet. Lovely looking venue and good access to most pegs.

Fished the lower end of the beat and were fishing for barbel. 1 rod had 1 chub at 4lb 5oz and other rod had 1 pike at 14lb 4oz and 1 chub at 4lb. Lovely part of the river even though no barbel banked.

Another tough session on Sugwas court, barbel not very obliging. Only one chub of around 2.5 pounds caught between two anglers, variety of baits tried including pellets, corn, maggots on maggot clip and meat. River was dropping and looked fantastic, couple of disco canoes(music blaring) went past to add to our misery although probably didn't affect the fish too much as they must have been elsewhere.

Started fishing at 1pm at the Orchard car park swim but nothing. Moved down one swim to a swim with difficult access and caught 4 barbel of about 4-5lbs within the next hour. After that it went quiet. I moved up stream to the wooded section where it appears shallower but no more bites. Still a lovely day in a lovely setting.

2 barbel, 8.5-9lbs and 6-7lbs. 3 chub, between 3 and 5.5lbs. Lovely beat but unfortunately in the swim I was fishing, a previous angler had discarded a lot of monofilament, rolled it up in a ball and left it in the hedge, not to mention a few hook lengths also with hooks and split shot still attached. Very dangerous for wildlife. Also a polystyrene cup. Quite why some people can't take their rubbish home with them is beyond me. A very enjoyable day other than that. Thanks WUF.

Arrived midday. River was up and coloured (but not as high as the section by Ross) and we felt confident of a few barbel during the afternoon, early evening.

Unfortunately our confidence was misplaced and in spite of baiting and fishing a couple of areas all we had to show for our efforts was just one chub! First ever barbel "blank" on the Wye!

Fantastic piece of river. Only fished the morning, however I would love to explore this stretch further next time I return to the area. I ended the session with 3 chub, 3 barbel and lost one. Positive I would have caught more had I fished all day but was happy with my time there.
