Second day of our trip on a low river. After a good ending the previous evening we were up at dawn hoping for more action. The fish thought otherwise and by lunch only three barbel had been caught. The afternoon promised to be largely overcast so heavy baiting was followed by a long lunch break. It worked, with a further 15 barbel and seven chub added before dusk. Biggest barbel was 8lbs 2ozs and biggest chub a very large but empty fish of 4lbs 14ozs. A great couple of days on a lovely venue. The farmer stopped for a chat and was very friendly and informative, being an angler himself. Lots of salmon were leaping out but no salmon anglers were about to take advantage.

Wonderful venue. Just being there was a pleasure. Catching was a bonus. Hard day due to sunny conditions but all came good in last couple of hours with majority of fish coming then. Biggest barbel was 7 lbs 9 ozs and biggest chub a perfect specimen of 5 lbs 4 ozs. best thing was there was another day left (see separate report).

Arrived at 12, walked the stretch for one hour, fished side by side in swim. Left most tackle in car and travelled light, one landing net, one seat, one angler sat on the unhooking mat. Big mistake! Needed two landing nets as we often had fish on at the same time. Fished pellet feeder, biggest barbel 9lb, biggest Chub just over 5.4lbs. What a great afternoon and what a great fishery. Sorry the report's late but only got home on Sat after a fantastic week on river.

Tough going during the day fish only starting feeding around 7pm. Timebomb method with a variety of hookbaits.

Slow start to the day, some barbel still spawning but good to be sitting next to the beautiful Wye. Barbel turned on mid afternoon with 12 caught fairly quickly plus an eel. Many thanks WUF.

Another nice day at Sugwas Court. Two of us fished one swim and shared one rod for the majority of the session as it was a tight one but we knew the fish would be there.
Fished double 10mm elips pellets, size 8 hook and 1.25 oz lead, 10lb line. Very basic set up. No feeders today, feeding pellet with the catapult. The fish came steady through the day with the odd longer wait for a bite. Best barbel weighed 8lb12oz.
One of my favourite beats. Heard a cuckoo today for the first time in a couple of years too.

Great day at Sugwas. Fish were a little spooky, however everyone managed to have a good haul.

Not the best day's fishing we've had on here. Plenty of fish visible but we just couldn't them feeding consistently. A recommendation for the Portway Inn, an ideal base for the WUF waters NW of Hereford, good food, comfortable & reasonably priced rooms and Wye Valley bitter at £3/pint!
