River high but falling and shrouded in mist on arrival. Set up on the middle swim which was just above the water. Had 4 barbel throughout the day, nothing massive but great sport in the flow. Chub came throughout the day and into evening. Some decent sized ones too. All in all a cracking day.

Strange but never had any barbel going Into the evening.

More rain! River rose to 215cm, and I didn't think I'd be able to fish as the 2 swims from yesterday were now under water.

I was able to set up on the upper tier below the car park, and tested a few casts to what looks like a possible holding spot, where the chocolate coloured water seemed to slow just enough to be different from the main. The feeder was holding to my suprise!

The first barbel came around 11.30, an hour after my first catch. Difficult to tell a bite, from the branches and leaves being caught by my line.

After losing at least 10 of my hooks links to branches, sticks, logs that were floating on top, and under the surface, I was about to pack up and head home, then a second unmistakable bite....

Hard, frustrating and rewarding. A great days fishing.

River too high to wade, so the feeder rod came out for Barbel and chub.

A lot of water on after the resent rain. I persisted on 3/4oz feeder, and one lovely barbel tried to drag the rod into the river around 4.30pm.

At 2m, on river levels, at Lydbrook, theres still 2 swims to get comfy in. I had to let a bow out on my line, and you can just about hold bottom with a 3oz feeder. Theres really good flow on!

A couple of snags, to be expected in this sort of conditions. But enjoyable. Ones enough for me, although a few more is always nice.. Maybe tomorrow!

Booked evening fishing as my son wanted to catch a barbel, he was determined didn’t even care about the pouring rain all day. Got to the bank around 6ish fished till 9pm. Had 2 barbel bites and caught 1 chub and probably lost another chub at reeling in.
Lovely weather even was sunny before dawn. River was slightly higher than usual and bit murky. Lost a couple of tackle as quite snaggy this area is.
Nice time out. Parking is not clear as stated, they are shutting a gates at 7pm had to move the car onto the road to make sure won’t we stay all night.

A hard day in bright sunshine and low conditions. Two chub and a barbel on the float from the Boat Pool. Switched to the tip for the afternoon but no wrap rounds. Fished pellet on the float and a mix of small pellets or meat on the feeder on the Wyebank pool.
