Started fishing at 7:00, the river was down about 250mm down from Tuesday with about 150mm of the large rock about 50 metres downstream visible. The weather was cloudy with very bright sunny intervals
Caught throughout the day using pellets and feeder but the largest barbel was only 51/2lbs. Caught a trout of about 12oz a dace of about 6oz and foul hooked a bleak. There was a pike charging about scattering the fry in the shallows for most of the day.

Apart from fish of 6lb 8oz and 6lb 3oz, most of the barbel were in the 2lb to 10oz range. Both Chub were also small. Although getting to the swim is somewhat treacherous, this is a nice fast flowing stretch of river, and I thoroughly enjoyed my day. I should also mention a gentleman called Geoff, who came for a walk and spent most of the day watching me. Undoubtedly a good angler, he gave me a lot of tips that will improve my chances in the future.

DID NOT FISH. I was convinced I had booked Tues Thurs and Friday and did not bother to check. When Carl arrived on Thursday just as I had made my first cast I checked my emails and discovered my mistake. Carl was kind enough to allow me to remain as a spectator for most of the day, which was the next best thing to actually fishing.

Started around 7:00am fished the bottom pool with pellets in brilliant sunshine until I got soaked in an epic thunder storm at around 1:0pm and decided to call it a day. Barbel ranged generally between 3/4lb to 51/2 pounds with one notably larger. River was quite low and falling. Access to the bottom pool is still quite difficult in wet conditions when carrying all the equipment and bait necessary for a day's fishing although some improvements have been made since I was last here.

Sadly, no Barbel to report… Lost loads of gear to snags and end up spending most of my time re-rigging!
Finished the day with 4 Chub but should have done better (given the favourable conditions). Just couldn’t find Barbel!

Did not start till 12 and both fished the bottom pool with feeder and pellet tactics. We were into fish straight away, I had 10 barbel in the first 10 casts, though the fish were mainly small they ranged from 12oz.to 8lb. I finished the day with 31 barbel and 3 chub while Steve had 17 barbel, 1 chub and 1 dace. A brilliant day on the Wye again.

River had a little colour and a few inches of extra water but no debris or weed to cause problems. Surprisingly and despite a very early arrival, the bites didn't start until 10.00 and then continued in short spells until I left at 16.00. Canoe traffic was light and well behaved. A mixed bag of barbel including a couple of babies, chub, dace and an eel all taken on pellets below a groundbait and pellet feeder. Quite snaggy and lost a few hooklengths before finding a more benign patch fairly close in.
Cracking day, as usual. Thanks WUF.

As with my first WUF session a fortnight ago at Lower Canon Bridge, I was impressed by the quality of information emailed to me before fishing.
Wyebank was different to L C Bridge. Here the water was pushing through fast but there were slower areas inside the cribs. Two 3lb barbel in 5 minutes to pellets and one other missed bite. To a river rookie the sight of tree trunks [and whole trees] going past was an eye-opener.
Heavy feeders needed on this stretch.
