First time Fishing here (11am to 7.45pm in the first swim. Water was low and had good colour but little flow. A snag to my left accounted for 3 feeders until Don came along & suggested casting 3/4 distance. Result was a lovely barbel weighing 7lb 9oz on 14ml halibut pellet. Thank you Don - scenery was beautiful & I will hopefully return despite needing crampons to access some swims after the recent rain.

Fished off croys, 1 fished hooked and lost due to bent hook and pulled out. No more bites till lunchtime but having moved to lower end of beat hooked and landed very large barbel, possibly 14lbs, at 4pm. These were the only two fish all day for two anglers. Bait hinders elips pellet, hooks size 14, 8lb hook link to 12lb main line, swim feeder. River low, weather dry, cloudy with some sun. Lovely spot but will return.

The river looked very promising with a good steady section of running water although very clear. We started relatively late in the morning with overcast weather which deteriorated into prolonged heavy rain early afternoon which obviously caused the river to rise. We caught 3 small barbel. Thanks to Don for his advice.

The river was low, sluggish and relatively clear. The fishing was also a bit slow, however, after several swim changes, three barbel and two good sized chub were landed.

A very low and clear river hardly good conditions for barbel fishing. However with the river being like this for most of the season it doesn't take long to build a picture of where the fish are. Getting the baiting and position of the bait is of great importance. We didn't arrive until 12.45pm and it didn't take long before J landed a beautiful 10lb 4oz barbel. Weighed of course. Following on from this the fish fed really well and between them they continued to catch chub and barbel. None of the large chub put in an appearance the largest was 4lbs 4oz.
T did land a very good barbel of 9lbs 11oz. A few other 8lbers and high 7lbers were caught and all weighed. This was our very first time on the river Wye barbel fishing and we had a great day. A big thanks to Don and the Wye & Usk Foundation.
