Firstly, I would like to thank both the bailiff Rudi, and the land owner Don, for the friendly welcome to the beat, it was appreciated, and also the fact that they both acknowledged me by name rather than just another day ticket holder.
The day started on arrival at 10am, a walk of the beat and baiting of selected swims with hemp and pellet was carried out. First fish of the day was a Barbel of 6 lbs 10 ozs just after casting. The day progressed slowly with two eels from two other baited swims. At 5pm I revisited the first swim, and on advice from Rudi, I tried luncheon meat again (after being pestered with eels on this bait). The result was more Barbel ( 6-4, 6-7, 6-2, 9-6, 5-11, 5-9, 7-3 & 6-13) and 3 Chub (3+, 4-8 & 5-9 )

River conditions were coloured water, and rising slowly during the day.

Fished 16.00 to 19.45. River falling, perhaps 1ft extra of clearing but not to cold water, overcast with light showers and rising evening air temperature. Perfect.
Light ledger (that could be lifted and let flow over weed and bounce in arc from far bank to nearbank) to 8 hook and 1inch cubes of curried luncheon meat. 4ft hook length, no ground bait.
Mid point of Leggs Meadow.
Luncheon meat floats up above the weed so is more visible in silty water
6 Barbel 7lb-ish to a weighed 9lb 12oz then later the Chub went crazy, I spent more time returning fish than angling! Chub every other cast, they were hitting the bait thro its arc but I could only hook regular just as bait stopped moving.
Most were between 2 and 3 pounds but a dozen or so were larger, weighed 2 I thought might go 6lb but they were 5lb 4oz and 5lb 12oz and fought like barbel staying deep to the net. Lucky I'd brought extra meat bait to use up!
In all total bag probably close to 100lbs in just under 4hrs. Actually arrived home on time for dinner!, did not need that "last extra cast".
The weather was unusual, much surface fish and small salmon activity in lower part of meadow, co-incides with DM's multi salmon catch in Wyebank just downstream earlier in day. Such a fickle river the Wye but my best evening session ever by far. (See also C's of Witney report same evening).
Interesting to see if Sat/Sun reports good or as typical of Wye a good day followed by a poor day?

Another very hard day, and floating weed + canoeists made keeping a rod in the water for more than a few minutes impossible, worked very hard to end with 8 Barbel and 6 Chub.

Fished an afternoon session. Started in the top field in deep water, caught two eels on pellet. Moved into new swim and my mate had a nice chub out the back on boilie.

Moved down stream into shallower water on croys and beyond with no action.

Finished at dusk back in the meadow, in the swim we wanted (new swim) there were two teenagers along with mates fishing. They stayed on night fishing as we left at dark (there two cars were parked by ours in the gateway of pump station). A little bit irritating, but I suppose kids will be kids!

We ducked in next swim up and I had a 9lb barbel on pellet and another large eel. Was chuffed. The river keeper is a sound guy, nice chatting, hope to meet again soon.

Started at 11am the first swim - fishing hemp feeder with monster crab boile plus paste wrap. First and only bite 1pm landing a Barbel of 8lb 10oz. 3pm moved to other end of stretch and whilst checking other swims with out tackle - came back to find my bag had rolled down the bank and now floating in the drink!! Thanks to the couple in canoe who saved me from getting half naked and wet!!
Settled down in the last swim of the beat with no afternoon action at all. Moved again to the mid part near the extraction pipes about 6pm - caught a small chub about 3 lb at about 8.30pm.

It was always likely to be hard work today. River low and clear, weather cool and sunny, and drifting weed a bit of a problem. One barbel of around 7lb in the morning from halfway down Legg Meadow on a small pellet. Only an eel and a lost fish (probably a good chub) from further up in the evening. Enjoyable nevertheless. Will be back when we get some worthwhile rain.

Slow going this morning with only three bites which produced a good Chub of 4lb 6ozs and two Barbel, the best going 8lb 13ozs. Reading other reports suggests that evening may be more productive.

Plenty of late afternoon/evening barbel despite very low clear conditions, no chub today though.
