Blanked due to rapidly rising river - 5 foot above normal levels. Did hook a Jack but lost at net. Helpful owner tried to put us on fish, will be back again.

River still up and flowing hard and still cold. The river now had snow water which did not help to catch fish and we didn't.

Arrived to find river really tanking through and high. Could not hold bottom even with 6oz leads! Decided to fish margins but despite using all methods-including deadbait for pike we could not tempt anything. River was probably not really fishable, but having come, we gave it a go.
Thanks Wye & Usk for a brilliant autumn's fishing, will be back next June!!

The temperature was 10C and the afternoon generally sunny. The river level was up, but not dramatically, and it seemed possible a barbel or two might feed. However there was no action to report on this final trip of the year.

Same approach used as last Saturday. However the river was colder this weekend, and the barbel were not very active. One take at 15-00 resulted in an 8lb 02oz barbel, the only action of the day.

Arrived with really easy directions to a really lovely stretch of water, first time on this beat.
Met Don and he said we would struggle today as the river was full of really cold mountain water being washed down. Boy was he right, not one touch or pull all day. Len went piking in the woods later and had a pike on spinner approx 12lb and that was that. We couldnt really rove about as the banks were quite dangerous after the weeks before down pour which Don said the river was nearly up to top of banks. Apart from a fishless day bar one this beat is I think one of the best looking ones weve been on and looking at the reports if you want a Wye double this is the place. Cant wait to return next year.
We also met really nice chap from Fleet who caught one barbel. Nice to put faces to the reports we read.
