Arrived at 4pm to miss the bank holiday canoes and found the river looking great. The fishing however was slow and we waited 3 hours without a bite. A flurry of activity in the last hour saw 3 barbel landed and 1 lost, plus 2 decent chub.

18mm pellet and swim feeder, fast flow from recent rain and red colour to water.

Fished in the meadow until all the boat traffic started.the river ran red with them,so we went and had some lunch. When we came Lee and Nick fished the meadow again. Lee had a chub and Nick had a barbel and a chub. While I went to the woods and had a nice barbel and 2 chub.pellet and feeder.

Other fish Gudgeon 3 inches! River coloured ...perfect conditions sunny later. Fish fed from 2pm for short period .....one Barbel 8oz.

Fished early morning hoping for a fish or two before the sun arrived. Just the 1 Chubb of around 4lb before sun and canoeists did show up. Unfortunately had to leave before lunchtime although it had the look of a day when bites were going to come first and last thing.

Conditions looked spot on however the barbel didn't play ball. Level dropped 6 inches during the day.
Next time maybe.

I only fished for a couple of hours. The river was red with canoes and the only fish I caught was an eel! About 1 pound!

Great day on the river once more. A steady day with fish being caught at regular intervals. Some welcome rain should help the flow.
