River low, water 15C. Very mild day with intermittent sun and gentle breeze. Unfortunately a blank and not for want of trying. Various nymphs tried to no avail. An occasional sipping rise just downstream of the rocks but I couldn’t find anywhere I could get to to make a cast there; if I had crossed over the bridge and come down the steps from the camp site it may have been possible. A couple of small fish jumped out of the water under the bridge but I couldn’t tempt them. Maybe next time ?

A tough day but as ever a lovely place to spend the day. One fish on a GRHE type nymph and one on a dry olive imitation.
Water level low and 15 deg C. Breeze picked up as the day wore on.
A helpful call from the owner as usual.

Fished the evening searching for fishing fish, found a few and had 3 nice browns up to about a pound on small emergers and midge. Lovely varied beat and saw a few larger fish showing that won the trout chess game today - I'll be back! Many thanks to Barrie for his advice and encouragement ?

An excellent beat - all the best features of the Usk in one, relatively, small stretch. The water level was on the low side (0.69), however the riffles and 'pocket water' proved the most productive. Only three fish in the net but plenty more on, albeit briefly. Very few risers and all fish and takes came to bead head nymphs fished on the Euro rig. A splendid day on the river.
