I love this section of river and the view at the bottom of the stretch is stunning. Unfortunately, the fish were not playing ball on this occasion and despite fishing a few different swims the day ended up as a blank. Fantastic place though and will be back. Thanks W&UF.

Nice venue and good access to river which looked fine, fast but not too high. Weather was bright with a strong wind from lunchtime. Parked up in second parking area after talking to Game keeper / Owner who said it was not fishing well the day before due to Bright Sunshine.
I fished a steady glide below the parking, current was faster than it looked and 60g feeder did not hold bottom, 75g ledger did also tried float trotting (at speed), few bites on ledger but only managed some Gudgeon . I should have moved down stream to slower water and not settled in one spot - my bad.
Great views of a family of Red Kites which were around most of the day.

Lovely day on this beat, fishing started well first thing in the morning with the river running though at a reasonable pace so 2oz leads were required to hold the bottom. Once the sun came up the fishing became much more difficult but not complaining as it was nice and warm for a change! As is usually reported the times to fish were the first couple of hours in the morning and the last couple in the evening. Barbel to 8lb and chub to 3lb, all fighting fit and fin perfect, they really do test your tackle to the max. Definitely recommend this beat as fishing is good and the river and surrounding area is stunning

River was up and heavily coloured, two whole trees came down during the day plus loads of weed and other debris. Needed a 100g feeder and fished near side to hold bottom which was no issue as most swims on this section look better near side / middle rather than requiring a far side chuck. Stayed in one swim all day, line in at 11am after walking the stretch and baiting my swim packed up at 5.30pm. Two Barbel at 8lb, the big one went 9lb plus lost two Barbel due to hook pulls and caught a nice 4lb chub last cast. All fish to pellets or boilies. Beautiful area would go back great day.

We expected the recent storms to have an effect on the river. The conditions looked great a couple of days before our arrival but the bad weather was on its way. We fished another day ticket stretch on Friday afternoon and struggled losing a barbel with only caught one chub on the day, which didn't fill us with much confidence for our visit to How Caple on Saturday!

Once we arrived at How Caple it looked perfect but we were really up against the weather with the wind, rain and obvious rising river. Slippy banks and several swims looked a little risky to fish. Stunning stretch of river though. We fished about 6 swims, I had a couple of small chub then a move to the lower section resulted in a typical hard fighting barbel of 8lb for my dad. We will certainly return to this stretch and have another go when the weather is more settled. Very good access, short walk to the river and plenty of swims to go at, but a long landing net handle is a must on some areas and if the river is lower, I think some swims might require some climbing to get down.
