Excellent day - river very high - caught 2 barbel at just over 6lbs each - my first ever - and a few chub up to about 4lbs. Barbel on pellet, chub on luncheon meat - fished the last peg on the roadside, was probably the only fishable peg

When I got to the river it looked perfect , flowing very fast and coloured. It was carrying a bit more water than normal. Started in my usual spot but couldn’t even keep an 8oz weight down anywhere in the swim, it was ripping through. Moved up to another spot with only slightly less pace but managed to get a bait down and the bites came instantly. Great days fishing altogether, fished from 12pm to 6pm. The takes were steady and the fish were pristine, great to be back on the Wye and getting some action after what’s been a difficult season. Lost a couple too. Weather good, fishing good, perfect day!

River rising due to recent rain got the fish on the feed. The fish came later in the day. Marginal diversions were pursued due to the river rocketing through. Slippery banks. Be careful. Good average size barbel. Lost one decent chub

The river was running very fast unable to hold bottom with a 5oz feeder. Fished from 6am to about midday then gave up.
Few small Chub caught more by luck than judgement.
I now know not to book to early and check the level before travelling 120 miles each way.
Apart from the conditions I like the fishery and will definitely return.
4 Chub
