A hot and sunny day with the river very low, so not ideal; but patience won out and two solid plump fighting-fit barbel came in immediate succession to each other late on in the evening to halibut pellet & feeder. Very nice fish in a very nice spot, and a lovely place to be in even without catching until then. I wouldn't much fancy the drive down and back up without a 4-wheel-drive on anything other than a dry summer day though :-}

Conditions very good but hot and the level seemed to be dropping through the day. All fish caught using feeder method with pellets and ground bait. Found the chub loved robin red 8mm pellets with a short hook link.

Booked a really hot sunny day and as expected struggled. The barbel was 9Ib 2oz and the chub were 4Ib to 5Ib 4oz.
Didn’t lose any tackle and found no snags. The river was low but carrying some colour however the hot conditions were not ideal. We roamed the whole stretch to try and locate the fish but only picked up the odd solitary bite.
Will be back hopefully in Autumn.

Bright hot sunny day. Quiet at first (fish, people and canoe wise) but by 11.00 there were dozens of people in the river at the top of the beat, gradually migrating downstream, swimming in the various slacks. The top half of the beat also became a lunch spot for large groups of canoeists. Carried on until late afternoon but a small number were still swimming and partying until 21.00, when I left.
Fish were caught at the very bottom of the beat on rolling meat and one on PVA bagged halibut pellet in the early evening after most of the mayhem died down. River was up a few inches but very clear.

Arrived late but temperature still around 27 degrees when I started fishing around 17.00 hrs in bright sunshine. River back to normal summer level and clear. Action started after a couple of hours, with three decent barbel, all on sweetcorn and feeder before I packed up with the light fading fast.
