Buith gauge dropped to 1.45 so thought it was worth a go with the trotting rod . Feeding an occasional handful of maggots soon got the fish feeding and had a cracking couple of hours . The Grayling were mostly around the 1/2 lb mark but had one cracker just over 2lbs . In between plenty of OS browns a few dace and what I think is a Roach ! Well worth an absolute drenching

Decent days fishing. Hadn’t realised when booking that is was opposite the Bishopswood day ticket stretch but even with muddy banks and anglers on the far side there were still plenty of places to fish. We managed to get up and down the track and through the field but wouldn’t have wanted to do it without a 4x4. Only bad bit of the day was that we were held on the road down to the fishery for over an hour because the army were doing some sort of training on the road to the YHA and had abandoned their vehicles all over the place blocking our way through entirely.

Fished the orchard peg. Good start to the day with 3 barbel in the first hour or so before a cold front swept in and killed it. Had a go for pike close in, nothing doing, nicked another barbel in the afternoon. Best fish 9lb+.

4 barbel up to 8lb 13oz. All fell to meat in nearside slacks. Decided to park at the top of the hill, the walk back up the hill laden with gear wasn't too much fun!
