We arrived at the Whitehouse fishery after heavy rain the previous day and found the river rising and coloured. Four of us fished DWW caught 6 Barbel 2 of 7lb, 3 of 6lb and 1 of 5lb. CS caught 1 Barbel of 8lb 13 at last knockings. All fish were caught on pellets in difficult conditions with a lot of streamer weed coming down the river. We fished the far upstream beats. It’s a very nice fishery the track down to the river was a bit difficult to get traction on to get back up. Also we had to drive through a couple of inches of farmyard slurry, the gate person had to walk through it! A very messy business which will find its way into your car be warned!
Thanks Wye and Usk.

Arrived to find the river in perfect condition but started to rise very quickly with large amounts of weed and branches coming down making fishing very difficult by the end of the day. Fished the wood section with meat being the preferred bait. Happy with our results considering the river condition which included Chub to 5 pounds and two 8 pound Barbel.

A complete change in conditions with river rising rapidly, although it did level out in the late evening. The large clumps of weed made it difficult and prevented holding position further out than the very inside line. However, not a complete write-off with 1 barbel of 8.13, 3 chub and 4 little others to show for our efforts.

Following heavy rain the previous day the river had risen about 2 feet and was well coloured. Tried our usual swims but soon found that a lot of streamer weed was coming down below the surface and it was impossible to hold a rig in place for more than 10 minutes. We moved and found a swim with a semi slack behind a bush and this produced ten takes but only seven barbel landed, the others shedding the hook.
