First time on this beat, very quite with easy access. Could have done with another couple of feet on water level(Or my landing net handle)!. Lost a fish each in the morning. Conditions were excellent at first but after midday bright sunshine
and very hot, far from ideal, and bites hard to come by. Had a visit from the game keeper around tea time,( didn't get your
name, apologies for that) but enjoyed our chat, pleased to meet you. As the sun went off the water we thought the last couple of hours would produce, however, several "knocks" but only two developed into anything substantial and both resulted in hook pulls!!. A wide range of baits tried including corn, pellet, various flavoured meats, cheese paste, boilies and trotted bread, most to no avail, only takes were on meat and pellet. Over all result, four fish lost one Eel landed, a nice day on the river but a tough day's fishing, lets get home and watch the cricket, --------- Oh dear!!!

Another fantastic day on the river Wye ! Fished this beat many times and it always delivers from top to bottom , The weather was scorching , which made me a bit apprehensive but the fish were biting steady all day long .
Fished from 12pm till 8:30 using usual pellet and feeder tactics , Nice to see our good friend Anguilla , who made an appearance, the Wye seems to hold many eels which is good as numbers have declined in recent years .
Can’t wait to return next year

Great days fishing on a very accessible stretch of the river. Water was clear and the weather overcast so we expected it to be a decent day and it didn’t disappoint. Barbel to 7.5lb and the chub around the 2-3lb mark. All caught on feeder and pellet.

River with good height, flow and colour, weather cloudy and mild. Perfect for an evening's fishing, I thought. So did every small chub on the beat! I had continuous bites on pellet until I just ignored them and when I changed to meat they simply robbed the bait. I must have lost as many as I actually landed, largely because they half-hooked themselves. I did manage a couple of smallish barbel between the chub and lost a really good one when the hook pulled after about a minute.

Fish caught in the morning and late afternoon with a lull early afternoon. All from the Salmon Hut Swim.
Biggest was 8 1/2 lb. All fish were immaculate falling to feeder and pellet. River level was slowly dropping and becoming clearer. What a place to fish. Absolute beauty and the perfect place to spend a day.
B.L caught 8 to S.M 2!
