Another very hot day with record temperatures forecast. We decided to fish for four hours after sunrise without any success. We returned in early evening to find the river still very low with high water temperature. More successful this time with three barbel each. Floating weed still a big problem but we overcame this by having the rod tips low at water level.

Only fished the morning as I was driven from the bank by the weather, it’s the first time I have had to give up fishing in the uk because of the heat! Nice stretch of the river, but didn’t explore the whole beat. Ended up at the orchard area and fished really well despite the heat, which was a pleasant surprise. All fish fell to pellet and were all in pristine condition.

Just fished the early morning as didn't fancy the hot weather. Anyway, the chub liked my pellets.

Picked the hottest day of the year to climb the hill and walk to the lucky stones. The heat was overpowering in the afternoon meaning a siesta was taken. Chub were taken during the day but despite trying feeder tactics, trotting and rolling meat the barbel didn't come until the evening when both of us landed one and lost one .Best was 7lb 2oz. One fish lost to a snag and the other to a hook pull at the net. The other was an eel.

Total blank. Very very hot. Swimmers made fishing very tricky. Boat traffic heavy but courteous.

Started at the bottom of the stretch which is full of Chub. I switched to float and lighter tackle for a while to catch chub up to 4lb 15ozs but most were in the 2lb to 4lb range. Only had 2 Barbel up to 5lb 6oz. Moved back upstream midday to try and find more Barbel but continued to catch more Chub. All fish caught on halibut pellets. Bites continued throughout the day despite the hot conditions.

Lovely stretch, it was probably too hot for the barbel but when it cooled down a bit later I managed a scrappy 5lber and lost two others.

Another hot day on the river. River still very low and still suffering from algae bloom. Amazingly we had three barbel in the heat of the day and another two towards dusk. Floating weed still a problem but we overcame this in part by using backleads. An otter surfaced two rod lengths out from my peg, it was eating a small fish.
