Blank, another lovely beat, to hot to fish...clumps of loose weed making fishing very hard.

A very hot day. Thomas Wood not really as advertised. Very few accessible swims, we walked the entire beat and found maybe 4/5 in total. Largely steep overgrown banks but a "wild fishery" certainly. If you are with a pal be prepared to be a good distance apart. Fish not feeding in warm water. More canoes and kayaks than you could shake a stick at - but generally respectful. One big fish lost and one good chub on the bank.

Booking Office note: Thank you for your feedback, the fishery owner has been informed.

Disappointing lack of available pegs, I counted 4 , 3 near the top of the length and 1 at the rope pool. Not much choice when 3 of us were fishing. 1 rod caught 4 barbel near the top including 3 in successive casts and another barbel came from the rope pool. The river had an algal bloom and was a dirty brown colour.

Another tough day on this beat. The water temperature had gone up to 20c and rising. The barbel were not interested in feeding during the day. Then, just as the last 90 minutes into dusk started, rafts of weed came down even in close and made keeping a line out for longer than 5 minutes was impossible. Just one barbel last knockings.

A nice big eel ! Plus some small barbel and bigger chub. All on meat, they wouldn't look at pellets...

Lost a few to hook pulls. Nice day, water carrying a earthy tint. Usual out of control Kayaks, had to help a couple of ladies..... highlight of the day.
