One of our favourite beats, we were excited on arrival to find seemingly perfect conditions for coarse fishing, a bit of colour and the levels around 2 foot up on normal summer levels. One angler fished by the tree line whilst another set up some way downstream. Starting around 8am both were in to fish straight away, in fact the rod downstream had consecutive bites on the first five or six casts. This early flurry of action dried up sometime around 10.30 once the sun really got on the water... and unfortunately as the day got brighter so the fishing got worse. Both rods suffered a lot of very fast tap bites (probably chub) before the downstream rod decided on a move to a peg near the tree line and added a further barbel and a chub. Sometime around 7, that same angler hit a tentative bite and had an epic battle with the biggest barbel of the day (10lb) only to find he'd foul hooked it in the pelvic fin (so that one doesn't count, but it's certainly good to know they're there!). By then it was time to make an exit, or risk missing dinner at our local pub. In hindsight, we might have been better served to make a really early start and then leave it from lunchtime to about 5pm, because really not very much happened then. However, it was still a beautiful day out in very lovely surroundings. We will be back (watch out Mr Ten Pounder.....)

There was only 2 of us fishing on a wonderful beat on the Herefordshire Wye it was stunning as usual ,the fishing started slow due to it being 25 degrees and having the sun shining directly in our faces and the river running very high and was coloured still like a rich beef consome it was tough going tommy bois even tried various ye olde pork products but this didn’t work either ,I managed to get in the trees and fished tight in a bush which was submerged and knocked a nice 7lb barbel but the other fisherman struggled in the hot sun then that evening we found a patch on the river by the steps which was filled with chub every cast we could put the feeder and pellet out and it was non stop takes we had over 24 takes but only banked ten between us???????? all in all it would have been great if the river was running lower and the beefy tinge had passed through and it wasn’t 25 degrees ????

Only one swim accessible and could only fish one rod in the slack margin. Produced 1 chub and 1 barbel to 3lb. Plenty of knocks throughout the day, but no further hook ups. Fishing on pellets and meat. River very high and fast.

Looked perfect for summer fishing - dropping off nicely with a some colour. Managed 9 decent Chub on Pellet from 2.1/2 to 4lb.. No Barbel which was a shame but reading other returns it seems that they are not being caught in big numbers as of yet. As always amazing scenery and wildlife

River still quite high so not easy to hold bottom. Seems to be a large snag in bottom swim which made it almost inmpossible to fish without losing end gear.
