Could not resist another winter visit to this lovely venue. Especially after my last visit the week before and with the level at 0.55m and 5.6 degree water temp, lots of fry still active and warmer weather I had a feeling it was worth another session. I did expect Chub and hopefully the odd Barbel to feed. It was very windy, but not too much trouble. Fished 11am till 4pm. I used open end feeder, plugged with GB and filled with hemp and maggots. After a hook and line change, lighter gauge, i was in. Had two beauties 5-10lb and 5-6lb and the others ranging between 3lb and 4.5lb. My 10 year son came along to watch and he was loving the day out. Chub-tastic he called it. A fabulous winters day fishing on the old maggots

A return to the Courtfield beat of the Wye. Another mild day and previous night. Started later than anticipated due to a visit to the vets for my dog! Fished top meadow with my usual boilie/pellet attack on one rod and tried maggots on the other. Not a touch on the maggots ( probably presentation due to fishing heavier than normal because of the countless snags that litter the Wye) but ended up with a barbel just shy of 8lb and 3 chub all over 4lb to 4lb 10oz.
Another enjoyable session on the river and looking forward to the warm days of summer!

A day off on my birthday allowed me to spend it at this lovely venue. Over 100 Canadian geese keeping me company on a cold frosty day. I only expected Chub to be honest but I managed 2 barbel and a beauty of 9lb 8oz. Cracking birthday present that was. Fished maggot, plugged feeder with maggots and hemp. Very cold day, was happy to have my hand warmers with me as temperature never rose above 2 degrees all day. At the end of the day my landing net froze to the grass - time to go home then for sure! Wonderful day, was still buzzing when I got home.

A mild day and previous night for a session on the wonderful Wye. Started on the bottom section with no joy so after 4 hrs of fishing a couple of swims moved to the top meadow where I ended up with 2 average chub and 2 barbel which included my second double from the Wye ......fantastic! Fished the usual pellets and boilies on either the straight lead or feeder. Also tried meat with no joy. The river was still up a bit about 1.5ft with slight colour. A very enjoyable day will be back real soon!

2 Pike 6-8lb from the most pikey looking slacks on lure and mackerel. Warm December day full of wildlife including the biggest Mink I've ever seen, 3 cormorants and a flock of around a dozen grebes (glad I'm not a Salmon smolt!). On the upside I did see a Kelt jump in the tail of the Vanstone.
