Only planned to fish the morning in the same swims as yesterday, but swapped over. Seven 5LB+ barbel fell to hair-rigged pellet along with 7 chub between 2LB and 4LB. left at 11am as canoe traffic bad and swimmers along the stretch (and had had 4 days on the river by then!)

It was no surprise that the water levels were very low and that the fishing was going to be challenging. Arrived late afternoon to fish into the evening. Baited a few swims towards the Vanstone Pool end of the beat and leapfrogged, giving each an hour. Not so much as a knock. Have had some great catches on this stretch but today was not one of them. Big fat blank. Still, a bad days fishing beats a good day in the office and I still enjoyed a lazy few hours by the beautiful Wye.

Used two swims that were accessible. Beautiful setting and weather. No bits but that’s fishing!

Lovely day on the wye. Second time I’ve been to this location and I love it. Spent most of my time in the upstream sections doing a combo of ledger and trotting. Was tough going at times due to weather and low water conditions but was a great day and was rewarded with a barbel at the end. The other was a fairly large eel.

River very low and clear. Most pegs too low to fish. 4 ft hook length and small lead weight tempted a few quality fish. Cheese, luncheon meat and chorizo all caught fish.

Walked past the woodblock into the field and most of the swims wasnt accessible. Went on the very last swim and didnt get a bite there. Changed up and caught a chub close to the woodblock freelining meat. Had a small chub at the start of the stretch freelining meat.

Fished for about an hour after checking out numerous swims for a clear spot, copious amount of weed covering the river bed & constant weed coming down
Covering bait & pulling it out of position.
Far from ideal! Shame as this is my favourite beat but conditions against me. Bring on the rain,& lots of it
