With a falling river, mild weather and an overcast day I hoped for a couple of barbel. However, despite my best endeavours, they refused to play and I had to make do with two half-decent chub.

2 Chub

Weather mild and overcast. River about 4ft above normal level. All fish caught in slacker water close to the bank on meat.

1 Barbel, 4 Chub

First time fishing Middle Hill Court. River high and coloured with some debris coming down the middle though not unfishable, had to stand and hold rod all day as nowhere to put a chair on the steep slippery banks. Fished the slacker water near the bank, all fish caught on luncheon meat. One Barbel 9 pounds. An enjoyable day, will return when river is at normal level.

2 Barbel, 2 Chub

Nil to report; River higher than anticipated.

Did not fish. River just shy of 3m above normal. I’m not a good flood fisherman if I’m honest.

River rising and water temp down slightly from previous few days, could only fish a couple of swims as the water was coming up so fast with loads of debris coming down

6 Barbel

River was up and coloured but dropping. Cool wet start to the day but the sun came out later. Fished top field . River looked spot on in the glides but couldn’t really locate the fish had a chub and one small barbel that didn’t even move the lead !Meat and pellets were the order for the day.Fished both near bank and mid river but struggled to hold with debris building up on the line. A very enjoyable day in the scenic surroundings of the Wye Valley

River high, we lost a couple of Chub at the net and that was it.
