Unseasonably warm and sunny with the river back at Summer Levels and clear, so prospects did not look good. Big baits seemed off the menu now with little response to pellets or even corn. Everything caught on maggots.

Suprisingly caught well on a bright warm sunny day. River recorded at 550mm high (at Ross-on-Wye) look perfect after the recent flood levels. Barbel to circa 8lb, chub to circa 4.5lb. Lost a considerable barbel that initially started off by trying to take my rod off the rest.
Fished 2 x 10mm pellets behind a hemp / pellet / groundbait feeder and caught steadily throughout the day.
It's hard packing up to go home on good days like these. Ah well, here's to next year's season (last trip for this year, for me to the Wye).
A beautiful part of the country, and very peaceful.

Beautiful weather and such a lovely venue, really taken with this beat. Bright sunshine all day but had fish steadily in the afternoon on pellet after a move upstream. Had a good chat with the friendly guy who had booked for the day too, Bob, he put me on the fish. Had two cracking barbel just under 9lb and best chub almost went 5lb. All fish were immaculate. Superb day. Be back here very soon

Concentrated on the upstream wooded section. Not as prolific as the the field but a better stamp of Grayling once I located them. Several 1lb+. Glorious morning.

Hard fishing today, the flood a few weeks ago has really washed away most of the swims and created new ones in places. The bottom seemed littered with debris and between me and my fishing pal we lost 10 feeders. We cut out new swims by doing a bit of gardening hoping the next 2 days would pick up
