My favorite Wye and Usk water given the scenery and peace and quiet.Bright sunny day with the river dropping and very little colour. The chub responded well to pellet , we all fished the float. two barbel later in the day. A stunning place to fish.

The river was starting to fine down but still coloured. Accessible pegs were not easy to find due to steep climbs and slippery banks. Some were only fishable with feeder approach. Driving direct to the river proved impossible due to flooded track therefore access was only possible walking across fields. We found two pegs where fishing was possible using float and feeder tactics at the bottom of the stretch. Caught barbel on first put in on feeder with pellet. Later switched to float with maggot and caught chub, barbel and dace.

River continuing to drop but very fast along the concrete walkway. Floating weed a nuisance and just the odd fish put in an appearance. Warm sunny day with no wind.
