Arrived to find the river in full flood with whole trees floating past …. however, I managed to find some slack water close to the bank and caught two fantastic barbel of 10Ib 3oz and 9Ib 6oz.
It just goes to show that it is always worth fishing no matter what the conditions. A lovely stretch of river with easy access … I shall definitely return.

River very high, in flood and steaming through like a train. Lots of weed and general debris being washed down river making fishing very hard. Rain persisted from 0930 all day. All in all happy with two barbel, given the conditions.

Really tough day big thanks to Terry for allowing me to fish as the river was very high. He pointed me in the right direction for some near side swims to try and I managed 1 Barbel but gave up pm as river was rising more and debris made fishing impossible. Lovely beat, will be back.

No fishing today, Totally unfishable, wash off, banks underwater totally and no access to swims due to flooding. The nature of the beast which is the Wye. Awesome river

The river rose 3 meters during the course of the day making fishing all but impossible.
No Barbel, but a handful of Chub saved the blank.

Caught two barbel early on as the river level was rising. Things became very difficult after that with everything (including trees) flowing down the river accompanied by very strong winds once again!! Finally gave up at around 3pm as river had already risen by 1.8 metres and was still rising.

River rose quickly throughout the day and the stretch became unfishable by 5pm due to the swims themselves being several feet under! Most fish came from the Old Wharf with the rest from the Wyebank Pool. Pellet wrapped in paste caught but suspended weed made it a nightmare. A switch to rolling meat resulted in most fish including a chub of 5lb 1oz and the largest barbel of 8lb 14oz. Every fish was a workout in the strong flow but all were well rested and shot off strongly.

6 Barbel, 6 Chub
