Spent the day on this beautiful stretch of the Wye.
Boat traffic was very busy but dropped right off after 3 in the afternoon.
The river was still very low and sluggish in most places but found a spot through the wooded section where I managed to catch 4 barbel with the biggest approximately 6 pounds as well as losing a couple of others. Also had one decent chub of about 3lbs as well as a number of 'chublets' and an eel.
All fish were taken on meat 'rolled' through the swim.
Would definitely return as it was just a pleasure to spend the day in such pleasant surroundings

Our second day on this beat. Slightly cooler and mostly overcast but still lots of weed coming through. We tried several swims at either end of the beat with the 2 barbel caught from the top end.

Barbel fishing on How Caple better than ever!

All fish came to pellet fished with an open feeder in the faster water. The fish responded to the feeder hitting the water, and were all caught within 10 minutes of casting out.
Very weedy! Free weed flowing downstream constantly. Had to keep recasting, but that was fine as the fish were straight on the bait.

Note: The banks are steep at this venue and on the day, there was a drop of 3 foot to the river. Could the owners consider creating a safer platform on 1 or 2 swims that would make the venue more suitable for anglers of all agility.

Fantastic fishing on a delightful stretch of a fabulous river. The morning was slow with one good barbel and one lost plus several good chub, but the afternoon and evening were incredible, having hit jackpot and getting constant action in one of the swims which produced about 24 fish on the bank, and a few losses. Many of these were in the 1-3lb range but the best went 8lb 7oz with a couple of 6s and a few 4s/5s. The other swim came to life around 5pm throwing up several bites with a better average size around 5-6lb and a few nice chub to 4lb 8oz.
One word of warning: some of the swims/ pools listed are simply unfishable. It is impossible to get low enough to the water, penetrate the vegetation or cast out in places due to overgrown banks and overhanging branches. It would be nice to see more of the beat made genuinely accessible (and I am not afraid of a bit of clambering / pushing through nettles, but much of this stretch is literally inaccessible) and fishable. It is a long stretch but my advice is to move until you find the fish, after which fantastic fishing can be had.

Pleasant day with nice breeze. Because of the floating weed needed to recast frequently. Lots of chub bites and odd barbel in between on pellets and paste. Very enjoyable.

A hot, sunny and difficult day. Lots of weed coming through also didn’t help.

Lovely beat, great variety of scenery and the fishery manager is very friendly and helpful. Fishing the meadows area had one barbel around 6lb and a few good chub. My brother lost a barbel in the bottom pool but banked a few good chub. Stayed at the highly recommended 'The Hostelrie at Goodrich' which is well priced and extremely well placed for this fishery.
