Fished at the start and end of a hot sunny day. A lot of weed coming through. Very quiet save for two screaming takes at the end of the day but sadly no fish landed. A lovely beat and a nice day had with my son. I will be back.

Although the river was low there had been some improvement in the conditions due to some heavy rain over the weekend.

Our group caught 11 Barbel and 1 Chub all to feeder tactics, we look forward to coming back later in the week.

Another great day standing in the water with the centrepin, with plenty of chub and a bonus barbel to liven things up a bit.

Fished the afternoon and early evening, alternated between 3 swims but mainly caught from 1, only weighed the largest which happened to be the 2nd fish, 1st was small, weighed 8.6lb, didn't weigh any more, all fish fought really hard but only took a few minutes to recover but kept them a bit longer, the other fish were all in the 5-7lb bracket. Couldn't catch chub at all, trying corn & different pellet, all barbel fell to single 10mm barbel blitz. Very quiet on the canoe front saw 8 all afternoon.

First use of the Fishing passport site to book and it is an excellent and informative website. Home fishery is a beautiful spot with fast and slow stretches. I didn't catch any fish. The river was low even after a couple of days of rain. The main problem I encountered was too much weed catching the line and having to recast pellet bait with PVA bag. I will return maybe in the winter.

For The second day on this beat my 13yr old
Son who is fishing mad, fished the wye for the first time, still a lot of weed coming down prevented us from keeping a bait in the water for enough time for a bite!! So a Change of plan was needed, fortunately we had invested in some waders, otherwise I’m sure we wouldn’t have caught, it enabled us to get to some bushes wear we could trott some bread flake and I managed to winkle out 3 chub biggest 3lb 15oz and my lad lost 2 chub! Not a beat I would return to I’m afraid, not many accessible swims at the top
end either. On a plus for you salmon and trout fisherman, plenty of salmon and trout jumping, roll on Thomas Wood tomorrow

A superb day trotting for dace and chub in low water. The dace fishing in particular was spectacular, with 40+ fish to around 11 ounces taken on hemp and sweetcorn. The lighter tackle was no match for a couple of barbel hooked in the middle of the day.

18 Chub, 40 Other
