Beat:Whitney Court
Fishing:Coarse
No. of Anglers:1
First time on the beautiful Whitney Court stretch with such varied water, so spent as much time on foot as with rod and line . Once fishing, first of pre-baited swims produced a chub after 20 minutes on two 10mm spicy shrimp boilies, this initial success and overcast skies suggesting more to come. But this is the enigmatic Wye and fishing, if predictable, as we know is not fishing. So I will definitely be back, if only for an alfresco picnic at those handily placed bench tables beside the Stable Block, looking over the river and dreaming of Barbus maximus!

River conditions were high - lapping the bank. Caught on the near side bank with pellets and feeder. Had to dispose of a carrier bag of rubbish left on a near bank - disgusting!!!
Booking Office Note: Thank you for clearing up after other people, it's always a shame when people litter our glorious rivers.

Bottom of the beat was treacherous today, path very narrow, slippery and very close to the river. Gave up making it down there, every step was a potential immersion!!!
Just one decent Chub not many bites.

Another slow session with the only barbel of the day at 5.15pm and an eel at last knockings. Conditions not ideal but still a pleasure to be on this stretch.

Stu fished the inspection chamber swim and had 6 chub and a nice 9.13 barbel at dusk. John fished the swim above and never had a touch. Just goes to show how fickle the Wye can be.

River looking good with reasonable flow and just a tinge of colour. Weather overcast, drizzly and cool. Most of the activity came in mid-afternoon with a solitary chub around 17.00 and nothing after that, though I fished until 18.30. Barbel up to 7-5, all on pellet or meat.
