Superb days fishing and one we'll remember for a longtime. Good flow with the water a peaty colour. Fished the steps area below the church in the morning, and had 3 barbel. Then went downstream to the far end and fished from a ledge from about 12 lunchtime, and it went hectic after about 1pm when we had another 15 barbel and 2 chub, so walk the whole length and make the most of the venue, as it seems the far downstream end don't see many anglers.
Tried a few boilies but only had one barbel so we switched to hallibut pellets which did the trick along with 4oz feeders full of groundbait.
A great venue well worth the drive and money and as we are both P&DAA water bailiffs it was our our away day to concentrate just on the fishing and what a day it was. We'll be back.

Strange day, the usual swims didn't produce at all and it was definitely trial and error trying new areas, meaning some loss of tackle.

My friend had a pb barbel of 9lb 5oz just as the light was fading and was over the moon, as was I. Pellet feeder tactics used by both of us.

River was spot on, great colour and a bit of pace, though there was a fair bit of weed in the lower levels which hindered presentation, but perseverance is key on this beat.

The fishing started slowly, only catching a 2lb Chub in the morning. The river was high and moving at a strong pace.
I moved several times trying to find a swim with a slack area off the fast current. I finally found a swim that was down a steep
bank and made a clearing. The weather was warm now after earlier drizzle. I fed the swim with Hemp and fished trout
pellet on a 10lb main line with 8lb bottom and had my first Barbel at about 4.30pm. All barbel were over 8lb, the biggest
being 9lb. They all put up a great fight in the strong current. A very enjoyable day with great scenery.
