Wet start to the day, river very low and clear. Baited and fished most swims on lower section with little interest shown. Both Chub caught early afternoon on rolling meat close to snags. Great day as always on the W&U waters, will be back.

Very windy day. Just one missed bite, probably not helped by a number of people swimming and throwing sticks into the water for dogs. Beautiful setting but don't expect seclusion, this is clearly a very popular route for walkers/wild campers etc. Maybe quieter on a weekday?

Back again for our annual trip to the wye, this is our fourth trip to middle hill court. Good to be back.
River was low and clear paired with bright sky's made conditions hard. Not to mention loud drainage work that was being carried out down at the lower end of the beat. We did manage two barbel, biggest was 7lb, smallest just under 7lb. Not a productive as other sessions but thoroughly enjoyed are time there.
Many Thanks.

This is usually a prolific stretch for me and my dad but not today. Hundreds of canoes and constant streamer weed floating down river didn't help. Nor did the farmer in the field opposite up and down all day in a massive piece of farm equipment cutting whatever was growing there.
All Fish came in the last hour of light. Dissapointing end to a very hard weekends fishing.

Parked in field by tree line, please note way to river is to right of trees (as per WUF map), on edge of sweetcorn field, going through the other field means navigating electric fence (which fortunately wasn't on).
As expected river low and clear - 2 x swan shot link leger holding bottom, fished first swim to left of tree line. 11.30 - 19.30. Lost 3lbish chub first cast on bread (hook pull). Further 3 chublets to 1lb on garlic meat, 7 barbel, 3 under 1lb others 2lb, 5lb,7lb & 7.08 on meat (one of the under 1lbers on cheese).
Taps but no hitable bites on sweetcorn or robin red pellet.
A great day out, no one else fishing beat or the other side (that I could see), except the kingfisher opposite filling up on the small fry.

6 barbel and 5 chub all caught on float fished corn, 4 more chub caught on rolled meat. Interestingly, legered pellet raised not a single touch! Best barbel would have been around the 6lb mark and the best chub around 4lb. A very enjoyable days fishing.

Fished from 5pm after the canoe rush had passed. Water very low, still running through the middle quite quickly, with big eddies. Baited up the bottom swim and then worked my way down from the top of the beat free lining a large piece of crust. Had one Chub about 3lb+. Fished the bottom swim with feeder tactics with Red robin pellet, immediately getting lots of knocks from small barbel. Caught four small fish and decided to scale up to a boilie wrapped in paste hoping to attract some larger fish. This had an immediate effect and I landed Great Grandfather, Grandad, Father and Son in the space of half an hour. 9lb 11oz, 6lb 9oz, 4lb+ and a 2lb+. A further four barbel rounded off a fantastic evening with a new Wye PB.
My thanks to the Wye&Usk . Always a privilege to fish this fantastic river.
