Returned to this beat for the fifth year and found that it remains consistent. Started at 7:30am and only fished through until just after lunch. Started well with barbel on the first two casts and five in the first 90 mins, then the chub appeared and it was difficult getting through them. Still a very enjoyable day and I'm sure that I would have double my haul if I could have stayed to fish on into the evening.

River very low and clear but had four 5 - 6 Ib barbel from the top end where there was the fastest water and least weed. Plenty of salmon leaping and mostly courteous canoeists but they didn't bother the fish as I caught throughout the day (between 10 am and 5pm). All fish fell to 14mm sausage pellets with PVAs of loose feed pellets and 3oz leads. Still my favourite WUF beat, glad it's even more left alone these days!

We love 'Saggers Court' for the setting and wildlife. The fishing suits a roving style so that's what we do.
We located a few barbel but they were literally between a rock and a hard place and so tricky to tempt although we did get one of them out which was satisfying.
A few droppers of hemp and pellet were popped in a few swims and duly fished after a rest and they produced some action on a steady day.
Wildlife today, green woodpecker, kingfisher, buzzard, tree creeper, and bird that acted and looked like a dipper but was the wrong colour so we named it 'The Twerker'.
A great day down the river.

Fished in 2 sessions, first from 5.00am until noon. Sun was up from the word go. Fished just below Legg Meadow Pool caught 2 Barbel the biggest 8lb 3oz, stuck with the feeder and pellet.Came back at 4.00pm and fished until 7.30pm. Fished 3 pegs down in the Meadow, caught 4 Barbel and 3 Chub. One of each on the waggler with a 8mm banded pellet. I was amazed at the variety of things that came past. A speed boat, a man on a blow up crocodile and a topless lady in a canoe. When I fished here in March there was not a sole about.

First time on this beat, so walked the length first. With the river low and clear, there looked very few pegs that would hold more than the odd fish. Settled on a peg with fast, but fishable water and was rewarded with a barbel first cast. Fish came steadily all day with about 10 fish lost. A number broke with very little pressure and the hook length looked cut through, so can only presume that there was a sharp snag in the swim. One barbel must have thought is was a salmon, jumping clear of the water twice and throwing the barbless hook on the second leap. All fish came to 12mm pellets. No monsters, but all of the barbel were between 6lb and 7lb 4oz.
The bonus of the day was to be able to sit and watch a pair of kingfishers on the opposite bank having an equally successful day with their fishing exploits.

Disappointing. Very hot day. Followed tactics employed by recent anglers ie. variety of pellet hookbaits fished on the lead with loosefeed. Barbel all under 1 lb, largest chub about 2lb. Although it was a pleasant setting, I cant say I saw or experienced anything that justified the £23 day ticket price tag. Some swims were unfishable due to their incredibly steep nature, and others involved such a steep step down to the flat level that I (as someone with limited access due to knee injuries) was unable to fish.
