Absolutely stunning fishery- great looking river in amazing scenery. I must say though the amount of treefall in the water detracts massively from the experience. My estimation is 30/40% is totally unfishable. It almost seems like its deliberate the amount of trees blocking the water above the recording studio. This beat could be so much better with more effort put into it. My opinion is its not worth the money as things stand. This beat could be amazing but it needs a lot of attention.
(WUF note we hope to get to this over the winter)

A cold and foggy morning made the drive to the fishery challenging but good written directions made the trip easy. The river looked perfect for a fish even though the thermometer told me the air temperature was minus 2.
The banks where steep as described and slippery in the ice and wetness. This is a proper roaming beat with a new hour an hour there. Both fish took deadbaits close in. Good scrapping wild fish. One of nine pounds one of fourteen.
I will visit again in the spring with an eye on the salmon that were making there presence known mid river in a couple of pools.....

Postponed a planned early start due to thick fog and a very hard frost, arrived about midday with the intention of roving with deadbaits, having proved unsuccessful and with no pike located a switch to pellet feeder for the last hour or so resulted in 6 quickfire chub to 4lb, a really enjoyable mid winter afternoons fishing.

A very hard frost and a cold day made fishing very difficult, switched between maggot feeder and pellet feeder for bites

The river certainly responded to rain on Friday and on Christmas day, with a 2 degree f rise in temp and a bit of colour. All fish taken on pellet feeder tactics.

First time on this stretch. Managed to get two Pike at 13lb and 11.5lb. Both fish in good condition and fighting fit.
Pleased to get something as I've struggled so far on the Wye this year and blanked on my previous 3 trips.
Both fish were caught on paternostered smelt deadbaits.
