A very difficult days fishing. Arrived on a frosty morning with the river well up and flowing fast. Beautiful spot, chub caught in a slight back flow close in on red maggot. One barbel lost on halibut pellet. Will return in more favorable conditions.

Hard fishing in a beautiful setting. The fishing was tough due to recent rain fall which brought lots of debris down river. We managed to find the fish after lots of searching. We will be back.

Returning for our second day on this beat we decided to concentrate our efforts in the field at the rear of the church. The weather was overcast but not cold and the river level was about 18" above normal and slowly falling.
We fished a variety of baits including luncheon meat, pellet, corn using standard ledger tactics. And it was a welcome surprise when Paul caught a small barbel and a small chub late in the afternoon, on pellet!
This is a great beat with plenty of accessible swims. But it is quite an up hill walk back to the church car park - So best to travel light if you can!

No fish caught on this occasion but a beautiful sunny day was enjoyed. The river level was about half a metre above summer conditions and remained steady throughout the day with some colour to it.
We expected conditions to be challenging (given the water temperature) and chose to stay mobile. Exploring as much of the river as we could using standard pellet tactics without success.

Very difficult and disappointing day. The river rose all morning and was bringing down all sorts of debris and rubbish making feeder/leger fishing impossible with the amount of leaves branches etc collecting on the line and feeders. Tried all the usual baits, pellets, meat boils, maggots etc without any obvious bites.
Also spent some time trotting also without success.
I think conditions were spoilt mainly by the amount of debris coming downstream at all depths which made fishing virtually impossible on the day.
