River level on the way down. A warm, partly sunny day. We struggled in the early part of the day but eventually found a few barbel later on. Fished from 9am till 7pm.

River looked perfect with a bit of flow, colour and weather conditions warm-ish. This is a relatively small fishery with a handful of swims so I set up in one that looked comfy... Barbel fed throughout the day and I finished up with 8 barbel that included two in the low 10lbs, one around 9lb and the rest 6-8lb. Feeder and pellet again doing the business.

Second day on this stretch and like the previous day I was the only rod on the river. Bliss. Similar tactics to the day before, bait dropping pellets and hemp and then fishing swims in rotation.
Caught a quality Barbel of 8lb at midday close to boathouse then followed this up with 2 more Barbel and a nice Chub early evening. All fish were in great condition and the stretch really in a cracker. The walk is a bit of hike so scale down your tackle, or ask the farmer for a lift - I believe he offers a taxi service. A fantastic stretch overall and definitely worth the walk!

Water levels well up and very murky. We fished with swim feeders and either luncheon meat, halibut pellet or spicy sausage pellet on the hook.

Sorry but first a moan. After hearing a bird chirping in the bushes for sometime I decided to look, as this seemed odd. I was saddened what I found. A robin caught up in a huge ball of fishing line. I cut all the line & released it. Wrapping up the line & putting it in my bag. There must have been nearly a full spool. Anglers please you are sitting amongst some of the most beautiful scenery in the country don't spoil it with your arrogance. If I can take it home so can you. That said unfortunately a cold night coloured water & a very fast flow (even the canoeists looked scared) didn't look good. And so it proved just one small barbel. But always a joy to be on the Wye. Looking forward to next time. Thank you WUF

Tough day after very low overnight temperatures of 4 degrees, water level falling from 1.1m. Moved several times between end of wood crib and through to the end of Legg Meadow. All fish caught close in.

This was our first visit to the Creel and can see why it is such a popular venue for those of us that fish the Wye on a regular basis.
A beautiful stretch and a glorious Autumn day added to the uplifting experience of fishing there..all we had to do was try and catch a few fish to cap a perfect day. We had no success float fishing in the strong flow but groundbait feeder found the Barbel and also our first double...a fantastic fish weighing 10lb 4oz!!
Needless to say but we look forward to returning next year and thank the WUF for their assistance once again.
