Fishing slow, only 2 takes all day. Access difficult with only 2 or 3 swims available and we weren't informed about cardiac hill!

River conditions were the same as day previous despite some nightime rain; which carried on up until mid morning. Bites were again hard to come by, even fishing the deeper water in the two swims closest to the tree line.
A good sized barbel eventually was banked (9lb 2oz) fishing very tight under a overhanging willow in the near margin. By this time the rain had cleared and gave way to a warm, but dull day.
A couple chub were also caught, again fishing the near margin shelf; one of which tipped the scales at just over 5lb.
Tactics and bait used were the same as previous day.
There was a slight issue with the anglers who fish the opposite bank (as part of the estate ) casting over to the far bank (our side) and also one guy deciding to wade right across and trott a bait along the margin where we were fishing. However, these were minor issues and we just moved to another part of the river.
A good 2 days fishing on the Wye, not as prolific as previous visits, but enjoyable nevertheless.

River in excellent condition, slightly up and coloured, but the fishing was slow. All the fish were caught on feeder and pellets. Don the fella that leases the stretch came down and was very helpful and informative.

Fished above the car parking space until the rain stopped, moved right down to the bottom of the beat, but no fishable spots. Found a spot on the bank in the middle of the second field, had a barbel 6lb 9oz, only bite. Fished just below the car space, late afternoon, had a 8lb 2oz towards the far bank were the Salmon were leaping. Good to be back on the Wye, off to Fownhope No 5 tomorrow.

Nothing today on what was a challenging day. Lovely stretch again on the Wye. Lots of Kayaks about which I can handle but when 6 people turn up and start swimming in the river just above you shouting their heads off I gave up.

Another great day on this beat. The water was quite low for the time of year which made accessing the end swim by the island easy.We spent the morning session at that end of the beat and caught regularly, mainly chub but some barbel, and the average size was very impressive. We also decided to try some other swims in the afternoon which yielded a couple of nice barbel off a groyne in mid section.
An hour at the end of the afternoon back at the island produced more barbel rather than the dominant chub.
The biggest barbel was 8lbs 10ozs and the best chub 4lbs 12ozs.
Such a lovely section of river and abundant wildlife (I think I disturbed an otter or otherwise it was the biggest rat in the world) on a very warm September day. Wonderful.

Saturday 17th September - fished the crib hole feeding with sweet corn had several bites losing two really good fish caught chub after losing many swim feeders to a rocky bottom.
Sunday 18 - fished above the strongon after catching a reasonable size chub the swim never produced another bite bad news if you were fishing the links run due to a whole host of canoeist gathering.
Personally I felt for cost not good.

Another great day on this exceptional beat. The river was quite low for this time of year giving us access to the end beat on the island. The fish came steadily throughout the morning, mainly chub but a few barbel, but the average size of the fish was amazing. In the afternoon we tried some other swims and caught a couple of nice barbel from the groyne in the midsection. I returned to the island for the last hour or so and caught more barbel. It was a lovely autumn day in the sunshine with abundant wildlife (I saw my first otter or otherwise it was the biggest rat in the world!!
The best chub was 4lb 12ozs and the biggest barbel scaled 8lbs 10ozs A lovely day to be out and well worth the long walk.
