DID NOT FISH. I was convinced I had booked Tues Thurs and Friday and did not bother to check. When Carl arrived on Thursday just as I had made my first cast I checked my emails and discovered my mistake. Carl was kind enough to allow me to remain as a spectator for most of the day, which was the next best thing to actually fishing.

Cooler day after recent hot weather and river in good condition. We fished the faster water in the bottom field and caught all our fish there. Best barbel was 9lb and fell to pellet. The upper stretch was tried but was unproductive due to low flow levels. In contrast to previous reports, we found the stretch easily following the instructions provided although there is no sign showing the anglers parking area.

Fished here on the previous Sunday when river was running fast, high and colored and struggled to catch. Had lost most of the color and slowed to a reasonable pace. Looked promising but fish fed very spasmodically. Highlight was a superb 10lb 7oz fish which my friend photographed for me. Unfortunately he cut off my head in the picture so it could be anybody holding the fish. Will have to catch it again next year.

4 barbel caught on spicy sausage dumbbell on the feeder. River high and coloured, first visit to the Wye, took a little while to figure, fish were close to bank under the trees. During the day around 8 cormorants spotted close by. Very enjoyable day definitely recommend.x

Fishing took a back seat to problems gaining entry to the fishery through two sets of farm gates fitted with cheap BQ combination locks. We had to lift a heavy farm gate off its hinges to gain access on a very busy road on double yellow lines. Exiting the fishery is even more dangerous.
WUF Note: We are in discussion with the fishery owner to try to resolve these access issues.

We both blanked in thunder storms and heavy rain for most of the day. This was our first time on this stretch and we fished the upper section. We found the swim choice limited, and in wet conditions the steep high banks made reaching the swims treacherous. A disappointing day.

Started around 7:00am fished the bottom pool with pellets in brilliant sunshine until I got soaked in an epic thunder storm at around 1:0pm and decided to call it a day. Barbel ranged generally between 3/4lb to 51/2 pounds with one notably larger. River was quite low and falling. Access to the bottom pool is still quite difficult in wet conditions when carrying all the equipment and bait necessary for a day's fishing although some improvements have been made since I was last here.

River fished well throughout the day. Best barbel was 9.13 and the chub were to 4.14. All fish were caught on feeder using various pellet combinations. A heavy rain shower at lunch time made the banks very slippery so we were glad we'd both brought along a rope and spike which allowed safe access into the swims - an essential piece of kit for fishing some parts of the Wye.

An attractive beat spoiled by the noisy antics of anglers on the far bank who didn't appreciate the tranquillity of the Wye and who were seen stuffing their barbel into keepnets. Heavy rain and thunderstorms limited our fishing to the afternoon by which time the banks were very slippery.

Struggled in hot and thundery conditions. Walked the whole beat in the rain, not many places to get down near the water easily compared to opposite bank, (which was busy). Just one of those days, maybe next time, other was an eel.
