Had a tough session for one of our party and a brilliant session for the other.
One of us went straight to a known swim and got set up for an afternoon on the pin. A brilliant session unfolded with 11 barbel and 1 eel all on the Wallis cast and centrepin. The only sound being the wildlife and the pin screeching!
The other angler struggled in comparison trying new areas with only a chub to show for an afternoons fishing. Eventually settling into a swim a barbel was soon hooked but unfortunately lost in a snag mid river. Eventually the fish came back with 3 in quick succession in the last 30mins. It was less quiet up that end due to a combine harvester in the field kicking out a lot of dust and noise!!!

River had a little colour and a few inches of extra water but no debris or weed to cause problems. Surprisingly and despite a very early arrival, the bites didn't start until 10.00 and then continued in short spells until I left at 16.00. Canoe traffic was light and well behaved. A mixed bag of barbel including a couple of babies, chub, dace and an eel all taken on pellets below a groundbait and pellet feeder. Quite snaggy and lost a few hooklengths before finding a more benign patch fairly close in.
Cracking day, as usual. Thanks WUF.

Lovely stretch of river thoroughly enjoyed our day with barbel from 5 to 8 lbs and chub to 5lbs, pellet and feeder tactics. Easy access and plenty of river to go at.

First time on Courtfield. River was up and pacey - not easy and lost a lot of tackle. However fish were feeding and really pleased to catch 12 barbel and 5 chub. My mate had 6 barbel and 1 chub up to 9.12. Challenging but great sport.

Nice stretch, only 2 out of the 4 pegs had fish holding there so very frustrating for the other 2 anglers.

EPR and I love this beat. Stunning scenery and wildlife, as well as great fishing. When we have spoken to the farm owners they are very polite and helpful. The dog ate a lot of EPR pellets and bollies whist he was playing a barbel which was entertaining!
The circling buzzards is always a highlight as is the stunning scenery.
The river was rising and slightly coloured. We couldn't hold bottom with a 60g feeder over half way. There was quite a lot of rubbish coming down the river throughout the day.
EPR had a stunning day after yesterday's misery (see Sugwas Court review) with an award winning 12 barbel and 1 chub. He would have caught plenty more but for his arrogance and need for cider, which demanded we left before dusk. I caught 4 barbel and three chub.
Thank you WUF. We shall be back next year.

As with my first WUF session a fortnight ago at Lower Canon Bridge, I was impressed by the quality of information emailed to me before fishing.
Wyebank was different to L C Bridge. Here the water was pushing through fast but there were slower areas inside the cribs. Two 3lb barbel in 5 minutes to pellets and one other missed bite. To a river rookie the sight of tree trunks [and whole trees] going past was an eye-opener.
Heavy feeders needed on this stretch.

River was flowing quite fast and rose around 6inches during the day. Tactics were hair-rigged pellets and swim-feeder into the crease just off the main flow. A lot of tree debris (very large branches) came down the river during the day as a result of tree cutting activity just upstream of where we were fishing; we were surprised that they were able to just dump the tree debris into the river....
This was our first time on the water and we had a very enjoyable session. The main difficulty was finding the car parking areas which are difficult to locate on a busy road and very limited.
Many thanks, we hope to visit again soon. Steve Thompson

We fished the field after the wooded section and took all fish on pellet and ground bait feeder. This is a nice beat and will be back. The walk around the wooded section is not too bad if you travel light.

Highly enjoyable day on an interesting beat. I fished the lower section and did find the access a bit tricky in places but the swims were worth the effort. I finished the day with a new Wye pb Barbel of 8.14 and some nice chub to just over 4lb. I'm looking forward to coming back for some serious chubbing in the winter. Many thanks to the young lady in the office for helping me out when I got lost.
Also thanks to the two chatty Yorkshire-men who set up opposite me and kept me entertained with a running commentary of every cast, bait change, rig change and missed bite.
