Fished the upper section in the morning arriving later than planned due to the M5! Looked perfect as I set up and fed the swim, but then the sun got above the hill burnt off the mist in about two minutes and i knew it would be a struggle. River very "sluggish" and clear holding the bottom with 30gram feeder. 1 Chub in the morning. Planned to move down to the bottom section for the afternoon evening packed up, back to the car and drove down to the lay-by for the downstream section. This was not a nice experience, lay-by full of big lorries and the hedge full of rubbish, bottles of urine and you can guess what else. To be honest felt uncomfortable leaving my car there, and a quick walk along the banks did not inspire so back in the car to the top end again. Afternoon session produced another chub on bread flake. Evening session produced three Barbel, 5lbs 2oz, 8lbs 4oz and 9lbs 14oz. If only they would feed all day. All fell to feeder and pellet. Another great day and well worth the drive

Bit hard to find and would be hard to get a car down the track if it was wet. Not too many swims to set up a chair in the first 1/4 mile, didn't go further? Flow was a little slower than I would have liked but colour OK. Fished feeder with Halibut pellet hook bait, always been a good method but not this time. No fish take.

River low and clear - very hot with bright sunshine all conspiring to make catching very difficult - 3 barbel, the best being just over 8lb and 2 chub between 3lb and 4lb - will be back when the river has been flushed through after a good spell of heavy rain.

Stunning beat but for whatever reasons it didn't get going till last few hrs, prob because of bright sunshine and clear water. Tried numerous baits and tactics but barbel eventually fed on pellets, weighing from 1lb up to 6lb also chub and eel made appearances.

Fished the bottom stretch up until lunchtime as we thought the beat ended at the gate. Managed to double up on a peg as there were only a couple of fishable swims. One of those had a wasps nest on it. One barbel of 8lb 4oz caught from the bottom stretch. Moved up to the top stretch after speaking with someone and caught 2 more barbel to 7lb 7oz and realised we should have started that end. I think it would be helpful to advise people to park next to the blue container. River was nicely coloured and conditions were good, would like to have another crack some time.

Arrived at 4pm to miss the bank holiday canoes and found the river looking great. The fishing however was slow and we waited 3 hours without a bite. A flurry of activity in the last hour saw 3 barbel landed and 1 lost, plus 2 decent chub.

First trip on this beat and was very happy with the water available. Very hot and bright with 2 fish coming between 6:30 and 7:00 am with the rest in the evening. 12 Barbel and one Chubb all caught on pellet.
It would be nice to see the riverside path cut back as it becomes overgrown and impassable after about 100 meters and there looks to be some lovely swims if it was cut back. This aside having walked only the section from the parking to the down stream limit there is more water easily available than can be fished in a day.
Huge thanks to Wye and Usk as this is a fantastic beat and a pleasure to fish.
