After a few hours on Legg Meadow for just an eel and a chub I moved into the woods and was hopeful when the first cast produced a barbel but it was a bit slow and bites were few and far between with just 3 more barbel and a chub over the following 6 hours.
Disappointingly there was quite a bit of rubbish in the swims along Legg Meadow including beer cans, newspaper and fishing related packaging. Is it too much to expect anglers to respect the environment and tidy up after themselves?

I got 4 chub 3lb to 4lb . My father got 1 barbel 6lb and 3lb chub. The river was in good condition. But the swims could have been a bit better,
They were over grown. Long walk to swims. My father is 88. But we enjoyed the fishing.

Fished from mid day to 7 pm at bottom of beat by the Lugg. Started immediate with 2 small barbel, 1 to pellet, 1 on meat. Then went off for a while but soon we had the chub. 2 on meat and 3 on pellet. AB then caught regular 5 small chublets on pellet nothing bigger than 6 ounces.
Met with Glyn who was very helpful. A well kept fishery with relative easy access even for us old'uns. The river wasn't performing today.............

We fished on Middle Hill Court, it was a very wet day and the fishing was very difficult. We managed 2 good Barbel about 8lbs and 5 chub the best was about 4lbs. So a decent catch given the conditions.

I do like this peaceful beat. A lovely setting and lots of swims to go at. We were heading home after our four days so packed up at 5pm so could have had more. One swim produced four barbel for my friends while I did a bit of roving for my fish after a great looking swim produced nothing. All happy to each catch barbel on every beat we visited.
Back next month. Yippee !!

Fished from 7am until 12.30pm when the rain set in. River was low and clear not best conditions for barbel. Hopefully the rain in the afternoon and overnight should bring the river to life

Nice beat for a bit of exploring so we fished lots of swims. Best feeding time was 5pm to 8pm. Wildlife today, a quite friendly mink running past my feet.
Still up there as one of my favourite beats.

A full day on Canon Bridge - from 8.00 am to 9.30pm. Action was steady pretty much through the whole day, using simple pellet and feeder tactics. A roaming approach really paid off. Barbel to 9lb 3oz and Chub to 5lb 9oz. Could have been a lot more - the fish know every snag and bolt hole in the river! Great fishing.
