Despite a cooler overcast day, hard going. River low and clear. All fished the beach area in the first half of the day, few spots to run a float through and have a paddle. All the chub caught here and notable nimber of swims on the opposite bank. nterestingly there's some half decent ranunculus growth on the cleanest gravel at the upstream part of the bridge. Down stream was a lot of smothered stones in algae looking very unhealthy. A few idiots in canoes, and some selfish dog walkers throwing stones in the river. Tried the croys by the salmon hut where I spotted a few barbel but only an eel. Finally scratched the Caradoc itch to fish the beach, and I think there's better beats so won't plan on a return.

Another lovely beat on the Wye. Enjoyed the day catching 2 Barble and 6 Chub
Best Barble was around 7lb

River very low and slow. Feeder with pellet and hemp and hard pellet on a hair produced a few chub of a very good size but very slow going.

Well managed beat with good access and parking, short walk to the river. Regular bites throughout the day, fish all looked in great condition but couldn’t get through the chub to find any barbel….

22 Chub

First time on the wye and fishing for chub and barbel for that matter. River had a flow and was very clear. spent the morning on the ledger in the deeper downstream end and had 4 chub, some weed but not a problem. Afternoon had loads of fun in the shallows at the other end of the beat trotting and got another 4. Size range from 2-4lb. Had one Barbel but lost it at the net, next time maybe.

Late afternoon evening session weather mixture of sun and clouds river very low and clear,fished groundbait feeder with meat on the hook the barbel weighed 4lb,8lb,8lb8oz and 9lb8oz the chub was around 3lb and the other was a perch of about a pound.

Fished far side of the river below the island caught 1 barbel around 4 to 5lb and 5 chub up around 2to4lb

No barbel just chub. Constant bites on various methods, pellet, meat, boilie.
