Fished mid afternoon to late evening. River very high and brown. Fished at far end of beat on concrete jetty downstream into pool as river was impossible to read. None the less come along way in search of barbel and tried using sweetcorn, pellets and luncheon meat. All large chub 3-4lb caught on ledgered luncheon meat while smaller chub caught by my son on floated sweetcorn. Also caught 2 eels on Halibut pellets. Good to see salmon jumping saw 10 jump including kelt next to us. Nice spot to watch wide variety of birds and canoeists were no problem. Will try again when the river isn't so high.

Good day on the river although the fishing was slow I had one chub and lost two barbel to the snags my mate had four chub and one barbel and lost a few fish to snags we both found the swims quite snaggy we also thought some of the overhead branches could do with a trim to make casting easier other than that we thought the swims were well presented tactics were long hook links and hair rigged pellets and boillies

Arrived at 6am, disappointed with lack of detail with regards to parking. Started fishing for the barbel, plenty of chub bites but nothing landed. 45 mins heavy downpour and the river rose over 6 inch in 30 mins so packed up at 12 and drove home due to the weather. Lovely stretch though and will definitely return

Rising river and colouring water. Lower stretch fished better in deeper runs amongst the shallow riffles. Plenty of barbel and a few chub.

Water level at Ross was approx 0.4m. Fished feeder and pellets / meat. We fished upstream of the car park, we enjoyed the day but were disappointed with lack of swims downstream. Also don't appreciate the one rod only rule, it makes no sense to me, rod licence allows 2!!!!

One of our favourite beats. Plenty of swims to choose so we did a bit of roving around. We caught barbel from five different swims with four of them coming from where we spotted a few barbel turning out past the middle of the river.
Nice to catch some on the centrepin too today with a bit of Wallis casting which needs a little work on yet. Good fun though. Today's wildlife included more than enough swans, kingfisher busy in the margins, tawny owls out and about early evening.

Think I've had enough of pulling up Himalayan balsam reckon it'll be good to get back to my local waters where the variety of rhododendrons, giant hogweed, Jap knotweed, signal crays, mink and Himalayan balsam are getting to be the "norm". if as requested in the last e.mail each visiting angler pulls up the Himalayan balsam near to where their fishing and reports any sightings of any of the above non native flora or fauna then the Wye and Usk doesn't have to become the "norm"
