River fast, coloured and high, though falling a little during the day. Weather mild, overcast and calm. Settled into a swim where there was some protection from the fastest current. Some bites from chub all through the afternoon, though not easy to detect due to movement of the rod tip by the current and debris in the river. However I finished with three nice fish up to a bit under 4lb, with two lost. Eventually came an unmistakeable barbel bite and a good fish which gave fought strongly in the heavy current. Was very pleased to weigh it at 9lb 5oz, my best of the autumn.

1 Barbel, 3 Chub

River was high with a bit of a flow on, so difficult conditions, especially for someone who is used to fishing still waters! Still managed to get two Pike on ledgered deadbaits. 15lb and 11lb.
Hooks pulled on a much larger fish after a 30 second fight. Will be coming back to get her in the near future.

2 Pike

Plenty of leaves and a rising river proved to be a good challenge. In fact too much of a challenge for me but still a very enjoyable day on an excellent beat. Will be back. Thanks.

Having checked environment agency river levels which stated normal range about 1.5m average depth I was more than shocked to find a raging brown torrent all the way from Symonds Yat to Monmouth, I had expected some extra water due to rain earlier in week but not this level.
I did manage to hold bottom with a 5oz feeder in the slacker water but due to the turbulence difficult to identify any potential bites (if there were any).
The strong icy wind got the better of this fair weather angler and I packed up after a couple of hours with no return.

Difficult condition with river rising, 2 barbel around 6.5lbs on pellet.

2 Barbel

River carrying some extra water and colour. Despite the limited number of swims and a work party taking place strimming the swims both anglers caught, although only one barbel at 7 lb 10 oz.

Only two anglers made it to the bank as other two delayed. 3 Barbel caught to 6 lb 12 oz. (Well done birthday boy SB) and some chub.

3 Barbel, 4 Chub

Pretty tough day. River quite high and pouring with rain most the day and a high wind. Had a little barbel around 2lb early afternoon and a beautiful 9lb 8oz fish late afternoon/early evening. Both fish were on pellet. 2 bites, 2 fish.
